Skip to 5:47. I think this is the best she's ever sounded live??? :soda:also, that intro looks exactly like how Taylor emerges on stage on the Eras tour. Maybe it's been talked about before but I just noticed! Britney will always be an icon. :chick3:

Crazy to think this was the only time she performed at the Trashys.

Trashys don't deserve her

I know the back track was doing the heavy lifting but you can still hear her here and I think she sounded good

Nah this is a better example of "amazing live vocals"

Britney is not a vocalist. She was a good dancer/entertainer during her peak years.

From that era I prefer this

But you can tell even at the beginning she struggled a bit with the baby voice

Is the amazing live vocals in the room with us? Crazy to think the academy regrets this performance so much they blacklisted the sis as a performer.

Comparing Britney's vocals to the likes of Mariah and Patti is just dumb because there's RANGES, and to sound great you don't need to be one of the best vocalist of music history like them.

Objectively Britney sounds fine in the video even tho the backing track is a little too loud.

Crazy how she wasn't asked back after this, loved the performance.

Brit had A pop voice that was unique and added a certain optics to her performance, and that is much better then merely screaming at the mic

It's good for her standards, but lowkey unacceptably bad for any other singer :deadbanana4:

no one compares to these two legends though so posting this here in a Britney thread is redundant.

she never kissed their ass and what's crazy is they had WAP 20 years later. I thought they were supposed to be a classy party

You mean to claim Doja, Lana, billie or taylor can do better? Maybe Dua but no one agrees with me on atrl that she's a great singer

you know damn well mostly everyone today has no business in a recording studio with their cursive avocadis voices. Much less on stage with a mic

Look. The tiny section where she sings in the clip above showcases an unsupported breathy tone that is all over the place with flat notes every now and then. Yes, there are moments where it sounds fine, but it's clear that she does not have the vocal control or technique needed to have it under control. It's just very rough around the edges. I know she had the potential to be a great singer; sadly that was not the focus of her career. With a great vocal coach she could have improved a lot.

Neither Dua nor Taylor are amazing singers. However, they have solid enough technique, allowing them a steady foundation. Yes they can have spotty notes every now and then, but their voices rarely break because they know their limits and know what they're vocally capable of.

Billie is an amazing singer and vocalist. Her extremely breathy tone requires a crazy amount of diafragmal action and control to not suffer from "leakage". People undermine her because of her breathy tone, solely because they know nothing about vocal technique. It's funny actually; if Britney learned a thing or two from Billie (how to use her diafragm efficiently etc.), a lot of her vocal difficulties would be resolved immediately. Billie also has a great musical ear - have you ever heard her sing a note flat?
