This is not even a proper troll post.

shes made more in 2009 2012 and other active years where she toured.

How have you interpreted that as a troll post? I love Britney.

40M is a huge amount of money, and I assumed it would be her biggest financial year as pop stars didn't make as much money during Britney's prime years as they do now.

Forbes reported a few years ago that Shawn Mendes made $30M in 1 year and that would've been mostly unheard of for even global superstars 25 years ago.

Forbes Highest Paid Stars:

1998 - The Rolling Stones: 57M

1999 - Backstreet Boys: 60m

2001 - The Beatles: 70m

And this money has to be split between a whole group.

I was asking if it was her biggest financial year because people make much more money now than they did back then.

I dont understand this, since streaming has been gagging the industry as a whole, financially?...

I mean, it doesn't sound unrealistic, the book sold well and is probably still selling, she gets coins from her perfumes, whatever she gets from residuals from her music, etc.

Well the book deal ALONE made her 15 million. So just imagine with all the other deals, copyrights to her songs. Book sales , perfume revenue. All to herself without paying anyone. Get money queen.

It's because of how good touring and merch sales are. They really exploded since the mid-10s and even more so this decade.

Streaming does pay decently (despite the bad reputation it has). An independent artist I like has 800K monthly listeners and he was showing that he makes $20K a month from Spotify, so relevant artists must be making a nice income (on top of the massive touring and merch money)

Rolling stone said Taylor made 100M last year from Spotify alone (this isn't counting other streaming sites) Even if an artist is 100x smaller than her, that's 1M in one year.

Also concert tickets being much more expensive now will help them.

Olivia Rodrigo doesn't feel like an absolutely massive massive star, but her tour is making 1.5M per night. Which is almost double what Beyoncé's 2013 Mrs Carter tour made some nights in 2013.

I paid £330 for a single seated ticket to Olivia's tour that were like 6 rows back :rip: . This wasn't resale either.

Two girls in front of me in the merch queue spent £200+ each too… the merch queue was so big. She must be making an insane amount of money.
