Mr.X Posted May 18 Posted May 18 The list is fine so far, but I thought some of those would be higher to be honest with you.... I would hope Spice is there, but these lists often neglect any girlgroup album at all, even though there are some straight up classics deserving! 1
Wicked Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Anti over VOODOO and right under A LOVE SUPREME is sending me to hell lmfaoooooo 4 2
WhateverYouWant Posted May 18 Posted May 18 (edited) Anti being among (and higher than) these amazing albums is a joke. It's her best and I love Rih but it doesn't belong. Stopped caring about this after that. It's just going to be mess from here. Watch a Taylor Swift album be in the top 10 Edited May 18 by WhateverYouWant 3 3 1
Kimi Posted May 18 Posted May 18 top 10 will be boring tho, beatles, dylan, joni, beyonce, maybe kate bush, radiohead, pink floyd, kendrick, fleewood mac, marvin gaye most of the time you don't even have to look to know what's there. they have no edge. but let's wait and see.
badgirlriri Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Yall have had 8 years to process the fact that Anti is an extremely acclaimed album, the acting surprised is taking me out 4
Wicked Posted May 18 Posted May 18 16 minutes ago, badgirlriri said: Yall have had 8 years to process the fact that Anti is an extremely acclaimed album, the acting surprised is taking me out There are thousands of acclaimed albums that aren't on the list and won't be there. It has a funny ass placement when you listen to the albums it's wedged between. 1 1 1

Does anyone have a list of artists we haven't had yet, but have to be in there somewhere? I'm expecting to see most of these ones. The Beatles The Beach Boys Chuck Berry Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd David Bowie Radiohead Kendrick Lamar Frank Ocean Nirvana Miles Davis Marvin Gaye Bob Dylan Stevie Wonder Fleetwood Mac Queen Michael Jackson Public Enemy Bruce Springsteen Johnny Cash Joni Mitchell Amy Winehouse Kate Bush The Clash - London Calling has to be in there. The Sex Pistols Joy Division Jeff Buckley - can't leave Grace out of the list. Kanye - He might be out of favour these days, but probably can't be left out. At this rate, Pet Sounds will be in the 40s

I think MBDTF. He might even score two… which would have some melting down lol They might ignore Chuck and only focus on jazz for 50s acts. So we're yet to see Kind of Blue by Miles and looong shot but maybe a Mingus record to complete the whole trinity of jazz acclaimed artists. They might choose between Clash and Pistols as the sole representative of 70s british punk. Or it might pull a trip hop and both classics will make the cut like Massive Attack/Portishead. I see they are also bringing groundbreaking genre albums here and there. So we might see Loveless by My Bloody Valentine for shoegaze and Pixie's Doolittle or The Smiths' The Queen is Dead for indie rock. Other acts we might see you didn't list from the top of my head: - Talking Heads - Outkast - A Tribe Called Quest - Blondie - Björk* - Wu-Tang Clan - TLC - Aaliyah* - Daft Punk* - J Dilla* - Leonard Cohen - Dr Dre* - Eminem - Arcade Fire* - Fiona Apple* - Lauryn Hill - Aretha Franklin - Notorious BIG - Jay-Z - Sly and the Family Stone* - Funkadelic* - The Roots* - Sufjan Stevens* - Liz Phair* - Alanis Morissette* * asterisks mean it depends if the genre is well-represented in the top 50, because so far it is quite balanced and they might be left out Pop girls yet to be seen: - Beyonce (probably Lemonade) - Taylor Swift (probably Red, folklore/1989 as a dark horse) - Billie Eilish* (WWAFAWDWG, but only if they feel like needing to represent gen z artists) - Janet Jackson* (probably The Velvet Rope, but Control might sneak) - Mariah Carey* (I'd bet on Emancipation because it was a massive 2000s album, but Confessions ranking low makes me not very hopeful) - Adele* (21, just because it was a commercial mammoth, but Amy is clearly the frontrunner for the british soul 2000s representative) *asterisks here mean those artists, if they were to appear, are outperforming the placements they usually score in those lists. Both Beyonce and Taylor have ranked inside the 100 top albums by Rolling Stone, which followed a similar methodology. Apple Music success might also weigh in their favor (see SZA and Rihanna) Edited May 18 by liquiddiamonds 3

Outkast - Aquemini Some big names that I mentioned came up. Control was the pick, so probably no Velvet Rope. I expected Kate to break into the top 20, but it's mostly an american-based list. U2 ain't putting another album, so no Achtung Baby. Innervisions is usually Stevie's most acclaimed release, so I don't see a Talking Book upset. I personally expected Songs in the Key of Life because of its long lasting popularity. It seems like the list is only one album per artist… although I still think Prince out of the top 50 is an unusual move. And Purple Rain has definitely topped Signs in recent years as his most acclaimed release…. 2

Yes, Ziggy Stardust will definitely be top 20. I'd love a "Heroes" or Blackstar upset, but the list has been pretty conservative (aka usual suspects for the classics) to surprise us like that, Kimi. As you wrote before it's the same old lol Edited May 18 by liquiddiamonds
Gossip_Boy Posted May 18 Posted May 18 The rankings are very questionable but I agree with the majority of the albums included so far.
liquiddiamonds Posted May 18 Posted May 18 (edited) If it's only one album per artist then we have the following showdowns: - Michael Jackson: Off the Wall vs Thriller - Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde vs Highway 61 Revisited vs Blood on the Tracks - Beatles: Abbey Road vs Sgt Peppers vs Revolver - Beyonce: Lemonade vs Renaissance vs Beyonce - Taylor Swift: Folklore vs 1989 vs Red - Kanye West: Late Registration vs College Dropout vs My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kendrick Lamar: good kid mad city vs To Pimp a Butterfly - Radiohead: OK Computer vs Kid A - Frank Ocean: Blonde vs Channel Orange - Joni Mitchell: Blue vs Hejira - Fegrie: The Dutchess vs Double Dutchess My current bets in bold And then we had these results: SOS over CTRL Like a Prayer over Ray of Light Pure Heroine over Melodrama Control over Velvet Rope Flower Boy over IGOR Blue Lines over Mezzanine Sign o' the Times over Purple Rain Love Deluxe over Diamond Life Aquemini over Stankonia Baduizm over Mama's Gun/New Amerykah pt I do y'all agree? Note: Missy remains the sole female rapper with an album inside the list. Maybe only Lauryn will join her, because I can't see Nicki, Cardi or Kim placing an album inside the top 50 lol Edited May 18 by liquiddiamonds 1
