I kinda remember another rate for All time albums, but can't find it... this list is good, but kinda weird tbh, no Shakira or Eminem? Their 90s albums slayed hard...

The gp AGREED with actual meaningful stats - not reviews coerced out because they wanted to look cool and not offend people.

I'll give you initial reviews can be influenced by climate etc,. But decade and all time lists? If that was the case then the album would've got left behind like every other acclaimed album that got left in its respective year/decade. (meaning their retrospective acclaim is minimal)

I'm not really surprised Eminem didn't make it cause I think most people would rather stand behind The Marshall Mathers LP than The Slim Shady LP. I think Shakira was an HM but I don't have the full list of HMs on hand rn.

I am pretty sure somewhere deep inside of you, you already know the answer if you're American.

The lack of Latino and Asian artists here Yikes. Apple. The racist came out.

Is also a *** joke bad bunny havin the only spanish record here (his lyrics are just so bad)

and Donde Estan Los Ladrones (The most acclaimed and best spanish pop record ever nowhere to be found)

or El Mal Querer ignored (Best pop spanish album from the new gens)

What a dumb list :gaycat4:

That is another good point. The list is very local and US-centric. Some of the albums made very little noise globally. It should be named The US 100 Best Albums.

Thiss is a good point, these lists always reek of American exceptionalism. They're titled 'All Time Best' yet somehow they consist of 99% anglosphere artists, almost all american, as if nothing good was ever made by anybody else. :dies:

Either actually put in effort and research to deliver realistic general ranking, or just title it 'Best US' list; this way they're ever beating the ignorant and uneducated allegations

I actually expected a j-pop artist to show up as some mentioned curators are definetely familiar with j-pop, but alas. It's sad when both critic-based lists disregard it and then curated lists do the same. In a perfect world, artists like Utada, Shiina Ringo, Faye Wong (c-pop, but it's also ignored) should be there.

Not this actually having some kind of impact lmao.

I know iTunes in 2024 probably means 50 sales but still.

wtf are you guys ranting about global albums being here? AM is part of an American country that is used  largely by the western audiences. respectfully if you want a list that includes other albums find a more global source or one not based in the US. got me on here defending this damn country smh

Anyways I was on twitter about this all day. My personal taste aside, the list could be worse but it could also be soooo much better. The top 10 is a good reflection of music overall but I will say that Amy and Frank being top 10 feels a bit odd especially when they are above lemonade which could have been at #6 if not top five (The Beatles can gladly go). Stevie being under frank feels like pandering cause know one with a knowledge of music history will ever tell you that and while I wouldnt choose Lauryn myself (once again, Songs in the key of life was literally right there) her being the top choice isnt entirely bad and I can live with it.

what i cant live with is 1989 being on this list, let alone top 20. nothing about that album broke barriers, nothing about that album is influential, nothing about that album even warrants it to be the best of 2014 let alone of all time yet here it is outranking actual influential, industry shifting albums like Control and I never loved a man the way that i loved you. If you wanted a taylor album so bad folklore was right there and I certainly would give that more than top 75.

And the lack of inclusion for acts like Mariah and Whitney are insane, especially the former. Daydream is the perfect album atp and Butterfly has consistently been praised as both mariah's magnum opus and one of the greatest albums since its release. For them to overlook that is just criminal.

Like I know Like a Prayer is one of her most artistic and really elevated Madonna as an artist, but bestie Ray of Light was just..... :smitten:

The songs.

The lyrics.

The artistry.

The experimentation.

The music videos.

Frozen.

Every tweet I see complaining about some generic pop album not being there always sends me like.. I love The Pinkprint and it's one of my most played albums of all time, but in no way is it cohesive enough to be considered top 100?? Nicki sacrificed quality by putting 22-26 tracks on her records.
