Often the usual publications like Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Billboard, etc etc tend to give the entire top 50 or something to white artists and white artists only (especially male bands). That's been happening since like the 70s and it's about time that black artists snatch their rightful place as the foundation of modern and contemporary music. I'm happy to see it, along with more female representation, but the placements are always out of whack. Modern music isn't weaker per se but it usually pales in comparison and looks awkward and forced whenever it's placed next to groundbreaking albums that have held up well for decades like What's Going On, Thriller, Innervisions, Purple Rain, etc. 1

Stop pretending the album is good because of "streams" because it's not....just like all those Gaga's albums. I would rather 25 made the list than TD. What planet are you on. Just because delusional snobby fans think Beyonce is a godtier album, doesn't represent the real world. If Beyonce is such a good album, why wouldn't people stream it?
Virgos Groove Posted May 22 Posted May 22 3 minutes ago, Burn said: Apple's list is of the best 100 albums. Not the biggest 100. If you wanna follow the biggest albums……. then that's kinda why charts…. exist. So many of the albums listed changed the sound of popular music (Nevermind), are studied academically (Illmatic), or their content is still discussed 20+ years later. But, sure, Teenage Dream deserves to be on it because it got some hits. It's like arguing MCU movies deserve to be over Scorcese's on critics' rankings just because they gross more. Poptimism is frying people's brains. 1
Donquizote Posted May 22 Posted May 22 At least Scorsese doesn't need 100 writers to write his movie OT: Glad to see Adele's 21 and Purple Rain in Top 20 3 2 2

Quote Despite being released in December when several publications had completed their year-end lists,[131] Beyoncé was ranked the best album of the year by Billboard,[132] Houston Chronicle[133] and Los Angeles Times,[134] while Spin ranked it the best R&B album of the year.[135] As of January 2015, Billboard also named Beyoncé as the second best album of the first half of the 2010s.[136] The album was ranked within the top ten on lists by Associated Press,[137] HitFix,[138] MTV News,[139] Club Fonograma[140] and Digital Spy.[141] Beyoncé was ranked at number eleven on Metacritic's twenty-five best-reviewed albums of 2013.[142] On the annual Pazz and Jop mass critics poll of the year's best in music, the album was ranked at number four.[143] Robert Christgau, the poll's creator, ranked it eighteenth on his own year-end list.[144] Some publications included Beyoncé on their 2014 lists, and it was deemed the best album of the year by Vibe, Pretty Much Amazing and Nate Chinen of The New York Times.[145] Consequence of Sound listed the effort as the eighteenth best one from 2014[146] and Tiny Mix Tapes, the fortieth one.[147] Pitchfork named Beyoncé the fourteenth best album of the decade (2010–2014) so far;[148] Fact listed the album as the ninth best one from the same period.[149] Beyoncé was included in best-of lists of the 2010s decade by several publications, including Pitchfork (3rd),[150] The Associated Press (3rd),[151] Stereogum (7th),[152] Billboard (11th),[153] Rolling Stone (26th),[154] Consequence of Sound (79th),[155] NME (55th),[156] Uproxx (33rd),[157] Tiny Mix Tapes (35th),[158] Paste (40th)[159] and Spex (57th).[160] Spin considered the album the thirty-eighth best one of the past thirty years (1985–2014)[161] and Q named it one of the greatest albums of the past thirty years.[162] On Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, Beyoncé was placed at number 81, citing the album's "musical scope and feminist outreach" and adding that it "proved that nobody else was on her level".[163] The Guardian included the project at number 9 on their ranking of the 100 best albums of the 21st century.[164] Beyoncé was also included on the 2016 update of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.[165] Consequence of Sound named the album the 37th best one of the last 15 years (2007–2022).[166]Apple Music ranked Beyoncé thirty-sixth on their list of the 100 Best Albums ever created.[167] But, sure, some "delusional snobby fans". 1 1

The female artist of the 00s DECADE rightfully belong to the one and only BEYONCÉ . OT: congrats to Beyoncé, Lauryn, Adele, Amy and all those legendary artists who actually SANG on their records making the list. I imagine someone, anyone, writing this message. Not a good look

period sis Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I see Beyonce having multiple albums on this list over their favs is ruffling some feathers!! 1
Draper. Posted May 22 Posted May 22 People getting so mad over Beyoncé being more acclaimed than their faves. Have you lived under a rock for the past 13 years?
Domination Posted May 22 Posted May 22 List got really bad. Sorry but Blonde is barely a good album and should not even be on this list. Same with Back to Black. Lemonade isn't even in Beyoncé's top 3 let alone #10 of all time. ST deserved to be there wayyyyy more and Ren at #33 would have made more sense. Miseducation at #1 is a nice choice and I love to see Lauryn get her recognition but seeing it there while Hard Core is N/A on the entire list is honestly unacceptable. 1

blackoutbritney Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Teenage Dream and blackout absolutely deserve a spot over some of the choices.
blackoutbritney Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Bey could've had 5 entries and it still would be correct, in all seriousness…. 1

enchanted0 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Blonde is probably the most overrated album of all time. And I'm saying this as the one who followed every step of his career, from his Odd Future days, Pyramids on Soundcloud to the iconic notepad before the debut release etc etc. Since I have taste I always knew Blonde was superior to Channel Orange and fully grasped the excellence of the album (Boys Don't Cry zine is literally right beside at me rn) but the 5th album of all time?! I mean this ranking was already ridiculous from top 50 but the way it getting the endless praise is c-r-a-z-y. I mean it IS legendary but definitely not the all time top 5 material. 3
Mandalore Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I'm actually surprised they put Back To Black in the Top 10. One of my all-time favortie albums. 1

Shinning Posted May 22 Posted May 22 30 minutes ago, Scandalous said: overall fine list, just the placements are pretty off and my main gripe is the choices for each artist (1989 over folklore? Blonde over channel orange? Lemonade over like half of bey's other albums?) Lemonade is Bey's most acclaimed album (and kinda the most acclaimed MPG album ever). It's not surprising they chose it over her other albums. Critics LOVED Lemonade.
