WaterDiamonds Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Honestly no wonder why in the long run Young & Beautiful did better, I feel Royals reflects the "Pick Me" way of thinking of 2013, completely rejecting materialism and deeming all those who didn't agree with that philosophy vapid. Young & Beautiful still feels relevant in today's context because it evokes a different array of emotions in a way that very few other songs are able to do do: love, self-doubt, melancholy, joy, passion, desperation... It's open for many interpretations, and I think that's what it makes it hold up so well.
