butterflymimi Posted May 10 Posted May 10 She's always known who she is as an artist and hasn't got lost in the industry game of chasing hits for a quick stat. She's a very rare artist and honestly deserves her continued success, always providing quality
massedux Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) she had a captivating debut (albeit with its fair share of controversies). I think at the time she was able to fill a sort of "alt" girl niche that a lot of girls and gays gravitated to during a musical landscape that was heavily saturated by your more conventional pop girls, so she built a dedicated fanbase from the start. she always stood firm in her artistic vision/decisions and continued to cultivate her craft with every release. NFR! was the clearest demonstration of her having won over the respect of publications and critics that used to drag her through the dirt. I think she also benefitted from doing other engagements and projects outside of her releases that helped boost her profile and expand her reach (movie soundtracks, brand campaigns, etc.) she's just THAT legend Edited May 10 by massedux
Patient Zero Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) Because she's probably the most influental artist of last decade. The GP is slowly but surely discovering the original queen of sad pop instead of listening to the many knock offs. Edited May 10 by Patient Zero 1

Her movie soundtrack songs really kept her afloat for the mainstream audience while NFR put her back in favor with critics and her hardcore fans.

I've legit not heard her mentioned seriously outside Twitter and forums since 2013 The GP liked her enough to buy 200,000 copies of Born To Die in the States last year. With the 6th single released this decade has Born This Way (the supposed masterpiece) out streamed Bangerz yet? I am sure GP hears about Lana a lot otherwise ...
RideOrDie Posted May 10 Posted May 10 4 hours ago, Kimi said: norman was def a critics bait no it wasn't, just because critics loved it doesn't mean lana was baiting them, it was a magical moment between her and jack and a fresh adventure for her and the world was ready this time to understand her. i'd go on to say chemtrails was even more of a critics bait with just how safe it is, but it came out being undercooked and bland for half of it.
PopFan Posted August 17 Posted August 17 This is especially surprising after what happened in 2020. I think something that helped is that Dua left Tap Music in early 2022. Right after that, they focused on Lana and whatever they did worked.

Once Dua Lipa blew up with her debut album, people think they put Lana on the backburner since she tends to shy away from all forms of promo and performances.
