Velvet Night Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I don't think this ad is offensive. However, it made me a bit uncomfortable as someone who appreciates a physical medium. The premise of compacting them down to an ultra thin and light device that can digitally reproduce those things makes complete sense. However, destroying them in the process does not.
Harrier Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I do somewhat get the outrage, I think if you're a person that doesn't come from money and/or values art, the pointless destruction is just cringe inducing. I was wincing the whole way through Either you viscerally feel that cringe, or you dont ig 1 1
EtherealCat Posted May 10 Posted May 10 its just a fun advert squashing all the stuff ipad can do into an ipad

Trent W Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I hate sounding like a conservative boomer But people are really really getting angry about anything these days These type of ads have been around for ages

NoOneDiesFromLove Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I really don't see what's offensive in this who's even offended by this, Android users?
GentleEarthquake Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Any ad or video where people waste or destroy food or other materials is a no for me. There's someone out there who could've truly needed all the things shown in the video 2 1
americanlife Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I don't understand how it's offensive at all. I guess we're going back to mid-2010s SJW getting offended over everything personalities. Gosh.
Keter Posted May 10 Posted May 10 The android rats are dumb as hell and reek of green message bubbles. Disgusting. 1
hawx23 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) I use both Android (Pixel Fold) and iPhone 15 Pro. I've had iPhones since like the iPhone 5C lol. I've used Macs since the iBook G4. I also had the original iPad. I hate the ad because the historical, Steve-era Apple embraced and loved creativity. This new era is boring and soulless. They literally did nothing but a spec bump on this iPad. Advertising crushed musical instruments that can last decades if you maintain them for the sake of an iPad that gets forced-outdated* every few years is…a choice. *Have fun using Apple Pencil Pro with your recently purchased $2000 iPad Pro M2. You can't, because…reasons. Edited May 10 by hawx23 2

And the irony of crushing those cameras when you know this commercial was no way in hell shot on an ipad. 2
geodude Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I love Apple products but I do understand how it was a bit tone deaf. This is the same company that released the 'Big Brother' ad offering something new when everything was the same back in the day. Seeing that the M4 chip will enable fast on-device AI capabilities they should have highlighted that.

Kayseri Mantisi Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 Made it to CNN too https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/09/tech/apple-apologizes-for-ipad-pro-ad/index.html
DAP Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Dull and unimaginative like their products. At least they're living up to their potential I guess. 1
