Apple releases tone deaf capitalist ad for new iPad, gets huge backlash, apologizes

I don't think this ad is offensive. However, it made me a bit uncomfortable as someone who appreciates a physical medium. The premise of compacting them down to an ultra thin and light device that can digitally reproduce those things makes complete sense. However, destroying them in the process does not.

I do somewhat get the outrage, I think if you're a person that doesn't come from money and/or values art, the pointless destruction is just cringe inducing. I was wincing the whole way through

Either you viscerally feel that cringe, or you dont ig

So weird that some people in here think not being offended by this = "capitalist Apple stan!!1" :rip: Just no critical thinking whatsoever

Yeah exactly the only apple product I ever had was a iPhone given to me by work lol

I hate sounding like a conservative boomer

But people are really really getting angry about anything these days

These type of ads have been around for ages :skull:

I mean we have thousands of music videos through history with artists themselves destroying instruments

I really don't see what's offensive in this :deadbanana: who's even offended by this, Android users?

Any ad or video where people waste or destroy food or other materials is a no for me. There's someone out there who could've truly needed all the things shown in the video

I don't understand how it's offensive at all. I guess we're going back to mid-2010s SJW getting offended over everything personalities. Gosh.

It's such a boomer'd campaign

I use both Android (Pixel Fold) and iPhone 15 Pro. I've had iPhones since like the iPhone 5C lol. I've used Macs since the iBook G4. I also had the original iPad.

I hate the ad because the historical, Steve-era Apple embraced and loved creativity. This new era is boring and soulless. They literally did nothing but a spec bump on this iPad.

Advertising crushed musical instruments that can last decades if you maintain them for the sake of an iPad that gets forced-outdated* every few years is…a choice.

*Have fun using Apple Pencil Pro with your recently purchased $2000 iPad Pro M2. You can't, because…reasons.

99% of people for reading books or tik tok they act like they discovered electricity lmfao c28ba7c570a8a0450eef40c8945fa42fe89b16c1

lmao exactly. And the irony of crushing those cameras when you know this commercial was no way in hell shot on an ipad.

I love Apple products but I do understand how it was a bit tone deaf. This is the same company that released the 'Big Brother' ad offering something new when everything was the same back in the day.

Seeing that the M4 chip will enable fast on-device AI capabilities they should have highlighted that.

All this too! And the fact that an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard is more than an entry level Macbook is ridiculous. That's Tim Apple for ya

Dull and unimaginative like their products. At least they're living up to their potential I guess.
