i used to like it more than i do. rolling stones, arctic monkeys, mountain goats are rock bands i still listen to, people like willow, poppy and mitski are more varied alt artists who've done some really good rock albums. in the end i usually end up thinking i'd rather be listening to abba or something tho, i'm kinda basic

also, i should say the killers but i'm never quite sure how much they're a rock band or not, they're kinda too rock for pop and too pop for rock but the killers were great back in the 00s

Alt/rock are such arbitrary and diverse genres at this point that it's hard to tell what to actually consider alt/rock :rip:

More straightforward alt and/or rock faves:

The National

Radiohead

David Bowie

The War on Drugs

Rage Against the Machine

Paramore

Faves that kind of blur the alt/rock/pop line:

Lana Del Rey

Florence + the Machine

Fiona Apple

St. Vincent

Everything from Def Leppard, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Mötley Crüe, Nine Inch Nails, Queen, Marilyn Manson, Clan of Xymox, Aeroosmith and U2 to bands like blink-182, Green Day, The Amity Affliction, 30 Seconds to Mars, Yellowcard, Issues, Sum 41, Pearl Jam, Bring Me the Horizon, Secrets, We Came as Romans and The Birthday Massacre.

I'm into a very healthy and balanced mix of old and new. So much music, so little time to enjoy it all—on top of everything else I love listening to and doing.
