Reason why Gaga flopped so hard with her third album?

ARTPOP didn't work because it tried to be so many things and genres at the same time. Weed, sex, drugs, Greek myths, funk, pop, EDM, rave, dance, art, tech, etc. Gaga was also just so big at the time that the public was hungry to knock her down.

It aged pretty well over time in the eyes of the public, though. Even Pitchfork looked back fondly on the album.

Gaga was following EDM trends at the time rather than setting them like she did with The Fame.

She also hyped up the album in such a weird way only to deliver an album that was not what she was promising.

When you hear reverse Warholian expedition, Zedd tracks with his signature production choices do not come to mind.

I wouldn't say she lost it... Artistically she never really got it.

But that hasn't stopped her to be respected and highly successful even today.

I am. Now it's time for you.

Can you name her acclaimed albums? I can't.

no pop star was getting critically acclaimed when gaga was most active, yet she is the only one of her peers who kept getting green metacritic scores and the most acclaim.

That's an excuse. Not a fact.

Metacritic is not only indicator of acclaimed music. Look at Blackout.

The truth is that she lacks acclaimed album because she never made one that deserved to be.

She wasn't that talented in making an album as she thought.

Her peak boost her ego and she started putting very risky, non-GP friendly, content.

Also she was overly exposed during The Fame and Monster so it was only a matter of time she would decline regardless of what she would bring to the table.

it was mid and for someone with the highest of highs for a smash debut era, the GP got over Gaga fast

Chromatica is what she should've done with ArtPop. She definitely is overly reliant on acting because music has not valued her the same way Hollywood has but she's good at both. I think she has been all over the place musically (genre wise not in terms of quality) but it's also kind of her strength too, either way she'll have people checking on her whether it's nurtec, a soundtrack smasha or a box office hit. Though I do wonder if she would've gone the Joanne route afterwards had she not flopped so hard with Artpop. Would she have even gotten into acting, music struck me as her real passion.

Her antics started to become gimmicky, especially after she did that Jo Calderone look at the 2011 VMAs. The public was just over it by then. Then she did ARTPOP which was a mess and she was not doing well. From 2014-2019, she dived into to jazz and country/soft rock music to pander to a more generic audience. These days she's just changed as a person and she's not that edgy queen we had in 2008-2011. Saying this as a HUGE Gaga fan back in the day.

To be completely honest, she didn't show any artistic growth.

The immediate backfire in the first few replies :dies:

The OP embarrassingly hiding his comment on the first page after getting lashed :dies:

Since 2013, Gaga has earned 4 #1 albums, 2 #1 global smashes, 8 Grammys and racked up billions of streams. And that's just the musical aspect of her career. This year, she's putting out the concert film to her latest sold out stadium show AND leading one of the biggest blockbuster films.

Poor OGHs. Lady Gaga will continue to solidify her spot as one of the most legendary female artists in showbiz history meanwhile they'll keep crawling back 10 years for recycling their stale drags. :gaygacat4:

It's funny how everybody in this thread is saying that because The Fame Monster was so huge, the public wanted her to fall. Mariah smashed all throughout the 90s before Glitter in 2001. Madonna's first four albums, along with two soundtracks and a compilation album, all smashed before Erotica. Britney had four huge albums before Blackout, and she had another successful era the year after with Circus. Michael Jackson had three blockbuster smashes and two huge 90s albums despite all of the mess going on in his life. We've also seen Taylor's continued success.

The excuses for Gaga :ahh:
