John Slayne Posted May 8 Posted May 8 idk what you mean by 'woke culture' but if we're using it as a stand-in for anything vaguely progressive then no, if anything most Western governments in the last 10 years became MORE conservative. the complaints about 'wokeness' come from conservatives with a victim complex and have no basis in material reality. 6

Trans rights are either restricted, outlawed, or attempting to be outlawed in multiple US states. The US continues to send weapons to a country committing an ethnic cleansing that many of its lawmakers support. Anti-free speech laws are being passed, with a ban on a social media app being the most recent (even though it does a lot of the same things that US-founded social media platforms also do with user data). Does any of this seem "woke" to you? Or does it appear that conservatives are actually the ones going "too far"? Because I personally think it's the latter. Don't forgot the banning/outlawing of books like I Am Jazz and Hair Love, while Mein Kampf remains unrestricted. 3 1
TotallyHot Posted May 8 Posted May 8 (edited) Yes, tbh. Trans activism For example was all about assimilation and now it's about hijiking women's sports, which is something that only AGPs are fighting For. No HSTS is interested in that. My answer is yes Edited May 8 by TotallyHot 1 3

After it was normalized by the far right extremists they took it a step further and turned "woke" and "DEI" as slurs for any minority person having a job. Well said. This whining about "woke" is pure far-right noise. 2 1
CottageHore Posted May 8 Posted May 8 No and anybody who refers to "wokeness" pejoratively let alone as a "culture" has literal brain rot. With that being said, the thing that's an issue today is the virtue signaling. 90% of the losers online who speak on social justice issues do it solely as a way to judge people and enhance their superiority complex, not because they genuinely care about any cause or group of people and it's always so obvious. There's no intention of wanting to see people grow and do better, it's now about cancelling celebrities we already dislike for frivolous (or other valid) reasons and disguising it as a postulation of virtue so they don't look awful for dog-piling.
playboi Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I don't think it exists but I have noticed that some words that end in -ism or -phobia have completely lost their meaning unfortunately
unino Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Too far because jt's too hard for them to adjust the way they live their life
Anthinos Posted May 9 Posted May 9 No, the opposite. The West is far too right-wing at the moment and is not doing enough to combat right-wing extremism. 1
TaggedGalaxy Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Right wingers war against "woke" culture is just a distraction from the actual issues we face. It's a red herring, and their base is dumb enough to fall for it
Phaunzie Posted May 13 Posted May 13 There is no woke-culture. Woke culture is buzzword for the far-right to virtue signal that the status quo is being disrupted. They are just mad that the oppressive system that benefits them is being criticized. 3

Woke is synonymous with Far leftist and progressive culture/ideology. That's all. Or does that not exist either?
Sprite Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Yes Woke people have a very narrow minded way of thinking. They're deceptive, sow division, resentment and are often just wrong. They become enraged when you challenge their arguments which is counterproductive.
terrijoe Posted June 17 Posted June 17 (edited) When it comes to genocide no. when it comes to our lgbtq communities forcing stuff onto others and making a scene about certain things…yes! Won't go into details. Not trying it. Edited June 17 by terrijoe
l3disko Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Yes As someone who is a history major, seeing prominent historical figures be race swapped and pretending that Europe was this multicultural paradise in the 1800s in movies/documentaries was a line crossed for me. I get that production companies are trying to reach their quotas, but I don't believe in re-writing history/changing reality in the name of diversity. and then there's the topic of re-defining female biological functions (like pregnancy or menstruation) and making everything gender neutral. If you google "Who menstruates?" Into Google, you get a list of all the different gender identities that menstruate. How is that even relevant when talking about a biological function that affects one sex?
