Lightbringer007 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 the people that complain about "woke culture" are annoying so no 2
Batsy Armada Posted May 7 Posted May 7 In some ways, I believe it has, as it relates to losing sight of the fundamentals of what has now become a termed ideology. I've always been more moderate, listening to and trying to understand both sides, leaning more towards being "woke," myself. There's still a lot of progress that needs to be made—but, sometimes, people do work against the cause whenever they blow things out of proportion by, yes, taking it too far to the point where they may even begin contradicting themselves and reinforcing the very ideas they may be fighting against. You can't be "woke" and simultaneously disrespectful of someone else's innocently personal beliefs that they only hold themselves to, while still being accepting of others. Extremism is never a good thing, in any regard, unless we're talking about a complete and total systematic oppression of any peoples to where that's the least of what it would take for them to rise above said oppression and make their voices heard. 5 3

rigo Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Yes. I also believe we should have an open conversation about pronouns. This may not be the right platform but something to keep in mind.
Trent W Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I honestly think the term and what was defined as woke culture years ago has completely dissolved The term woke has been overtaken by right wing clowns. No one even calls themselves woke anymore, the only ones using it are the ones who hate that former culture They are basically fighting an invisible and imaginary enemy Woke doesn't mean anything anymore 7
Cyanide Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I feel like there's already been a years long pendulum swing back to conservatism just like people on the left are deep and loud in their convictions, so are people on the right

Assassin Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Anything thing that does not star a cis hetero white man is considered "woke" by these right-wing dumbasses 2 2

It was bound to happen and in a few years things will stabilize between the two until the next upset.

DAP Posted May 7 Posted May 7 No and I only ever hear this from people well off enough in their fortune that they can consider aspects of their life beyond their living circumstance. Everyone else is too concerned with having enough money to cover basic needs to give an shite about a culture war, much less an imagined "woke culture". 2
glitch Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I'm sick of people talking about woke culture People can't afford to heat their homes and right wingers are having meltdowns over people having pronouns in their bio or the ethnicity of cartoon characters. Get a ******* grip 4
Mordecai Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Woke culture wouldn't be a thing if people weren't so chronically online and complaining/needing to have an opinion on every single thing they come across That being said, the term 'woke' nowadays is just a dog whistle used by bigots to thinly veil their -isms 2
Zylo Posted May 7 Posted May 7 23 minutes ago, Assassin said: Anything thing that does not star a cis hetero white man is considered "woke" by these right-wing dumbasses This. Woke is synonymous with anything that penetrates the status quo, so I can never take people who unironically use that term. The fact that the term was bastardized from black peoples original use of it—that being related to being aware of the racial prejudices and inequality in society, to anything *challenging* the status quo…it's just a self report lol. & no. The crybullying from the extremist on the left will never be as alarming as the alternative from the extremism side of the right. Twitter simply isn't real life.
GAGAxMONSTER Posted May 7 Posted May 7 It almost went too far during the Witness era but are now kept in check.
Domination Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Stupid people with internet access in general have gone too far, it has nothing to do with their politics or being woke.
Tylerbv Posted May 7 Posted May 7 "Woke culture" is a stupid term, but we are definitely getting more extremists on each side lately. "Wokeness" is hardly the world's biggest problem at the moment though. I'd rather be too progressive than.. the opposite.
Rotunda Posted May 7 Posted May 7 There are certain cultural spaces that I think have lost touch with reality, but I think mainstream society could stand to be more progressive.
Illuminati Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Woke culture isn't a real thing. It's a far right trap. After it was normalized by the far right extremists they took it a step further and turned "woke" and "DEI" as slurs for any minority person having a job. 1
AvadaKedavra Posted May 7 Posted May 7 (edited) We also should talk of how social media and their algorithms are a big issue theyre always pushin the worst content to make people angry and sad and to follow narratives. This is something i miss about the 90s-2000s. Things were more chill. Social Media is great but is also one of the worst things to happen to humanity In my accounts and tiktok they push that "alpha male" "andrew tate" thing all the time. Its so annoying. Even if i didnt click in those contents ------------------ Now talkin about the woke thing. I feel more woke after listening witness. It opened my eyes to the world issues People dont realize but every song is about social issues. Edited May 7 by AvadaKedavra 1
