Starfish Posted May 7 Posted May 7 This is a statement I see a lot of people make online and in real life but the word means so many things to so many people. Is it really going overboard? 1
Popular Post selena_lavigne Posted May 7 Popular Post Posted May 7 Give an example of "woke culture" please. 18
JO1s Posted May 7 Posted May 7 No, the people who whine about woke culture have a freak out when someone puts pronouns in their bio. Then in their bio they're like 'Christian conservative, America first, divorced dad' or some ****. 8 2
tjspy Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I mean, I've seen threads saying that humans should stop generating kids here so I guess the answer is yes, but ATRL is not gonna admit it However, better like this than no freedom to speak or being for sure 2 1 1
nostalgic Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I do think we should be sleeping more often. Insomnia is an epidemic. 3 2
Popular Post Aston Martin Posted May 7 Popular Post Posted May 7 Abortion is outlawed in a large number of US states. Trans rights are either restricted, outlawed, or attempting to be outlawed in multiple US states. The US continues to send weapons to a country committing an ethnic cleansing that many of its lawmakers support. Anti-free speech laws are being passed, with a ban on a social media app being the most recent (even though it does a lot of the same things that US-founded social media platforms also do with user data). Does any of this seem "woke" to you? Or does it appear that conservatives are actually the ones going "too far"? Because I personally think it's the latter. 32
moondust Posted May 7 Posted May 7 what kind of goofy question... absolutely not. the complete opposite unfortunately, it hasn't gone far enough yet
Gladiator Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Most of the people in my real life care about real issues than some underlying agenda or culture. While I do get a little frustrated about the desire for some sanitization of words used, it comes from a place of empathy for others so I do my best to police the language I use that could negatively impact others. Other than that, I cannot say that I am impacted enough by "woke culture" to know if it has gone too far or not, or even what it is anymore. 2

playwithme Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Why are you asking this question on one of the most far-left forums on the internet? What do you expect to hear? 2 1 2 2
Earth Ripper Posted May 7 Posted May 7 No. I would like to see more building of nuance and critical skills instead of confusing social media for education but that easily goes for all parties lol. 1
If U Seek Amy Posted May 7 Posted May 7 The internet wants you to believe everything has gone too far for engagement. Very rarely do things actually go "too far." And when they talk about "woke culture" it usually means a very small subset of humans 1 2
