I hate how they made him do this to himself.  You really can't undo it, it changes your body to the point where you'll likely never be as slim as before.

I blame 300, it started all of this. That movie was sold on Gerard Butler's abs. And at the time it was like, shocking to see an actor so ripped and buff. And now he looks tiny compared to this roided out mess.

That movie and the parade of roided Marvel heroes in the last 10-15 years have totally ****** up a generation of men's ideas about their own bodies. You literally need to be a pro athlete level fitness junkie to reach the male beauty ideal nowadays. It's even worse among gays.

literally ALL of this :cm:

it's so disheartening going to the gym and working on yourself and putting in amazing work and making progress and still having to quell that intrusive thought that "oh sh*t… I have muscle definition but i still don't look like THIS^ so i'll never be good enough."

no. you ARE good enough. there are so many different kinds of healthy bodies and this, quite frankly, is NOT one of them. and it's insane how, especially in gay world, we're meant to believe that this is attainable/encouraged. I, personally, have been going to the gym with my best friend very frequently several times a week for about a year now and I'm so proud of my muscle definition and progress and all that, but the fact is that it's hard for a body like mine with a fast metabolism to bulk up, so while i'm a bit muscular, i'm still mostly just a skinny man. and my best friend is somewhat above average weight but you can easily see HIS progress too!

it's hard to unlearn these thoughts when the "superhero body" was engrained into so many of us as an ideal from a very young age, but it's so worth it. I honestly think almost everyone in the american queer community has struggled with body dysmorphia at some point or another in their lives. I know my brothers (both also queer of course) and I have tbh
