playwithme Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) The album was labeled as a flop, but it might not seem this way when you consider that it had: -a gargantuan hit -a six-digit debut - two top 10 hits - 79 points on MC (her most acclaimed album) - multiple Grammy wins (including ROTY), an AOTY nomination - one of her longest-charting albums (more weeks than Bangers) Apart from a few duds, the album is also very solid with amazing songs like Violet Chemistry, Handstand, and Jaded. Erotic Posted May 3 Posted May 3 It was successful, in the sense that, anything would be considered an improvement after her previous 3 bombs 1 1 12
Domination Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Flowers was, the album was irrelevant. It could have been the biggest album of her career. 3 2
Bends Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) - two Grammy victories - her most acclaimed record - historic airplay and streaming milestones were broken - album have spent more than one year in Billboard 200 Edited May 3 by Bends
MALAMENTE Posted May 3 Posted May 3 The album was entirely carried by Flowers though. The songs are good though 2
Power love Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Many artists would only dream to have such stats for their era. Fantastic album just terrible era!

visions Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Yes. I haven't seen a single argument as good as this one for the people saying no either! 2 hours ago, playwithme said: a gargantuan hit -a six-digit debut - two top 10 hits - 79 points on MC (her most acclaimed album) - multiple Grammy wins (including ROTY), an AOTY nomination - one of her longest-charting albums (more weeks than Bangers) Also, Plastic Hearts wasn't a "bomb" it has 3.4 billion streams and gets more daily streams than most pop girl albums from around that time too. 1

Plastic Hearts was objectively a flop, but it served amazing longevity, becoming one of her most successful albums.
Parallel Posted May 3 Posted May 3 ESV had no longevity outside of Flowers because it sucked. Now Plastic Hearts, that album should've topped the charts for 10 weeks but that's another story. Thankfully Angels Like You became a sleeper hit and Midnight Sky is still loved
Timeless Posted May 3 Posted May 3 You lot need to learn to distinguish between Flowers from its album.
thatsmydemi Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) If anything, it looks bad considering all that was because of Flowers and only Flowers. Had Flowers not happened, the album would've performed worse than Plastic Hearts, which was actually a success in retrospect. Edited May 3 by thatsmydemi 1
