Released few months from each other, the two eras produced two of the highest-grossing female tours of all time.

Kinda weird to compare a hip hop record to a rock one but anyway:gaycat2:

Strange comparison, but Taking Chances is one of Celine's best albums. :jonny5:

At least 4 Minutes was a moderate hit. I am more of a Celine fan tho.

Both are great. Love both albums and both tours.

the fact that I have both the CDs >>>>>>

Both are definitely better than the other divas that released around the same time.

Not surprising since this site loves spending time minimizing Céline's career and success.

Hard Candy was the bigger era but as an album Taking Chances sold about the same actually (both are at around 3.5 million pure sales globally, with Hard Candy being bigger in mainland Europe and Asia whilst Taking Chances sold more in the Anglosphere). The lack of an obvious hit like 4 Minutes for Madge has obviously affected the latter's current public perception though, and also explains the difference in their recurrent streams, as without 4 Minutes the albums are only like 20 million streams apart (100 million for Hard Candy and 78 million for Taking Chances, 4 Minutes boosts Hard Candy to 450 million).

Exactly, it just shows their ignorance.

Because I don't know a Celine album, that didn't have a massive hit, from when I was 5 years old? Okay :ahh:

I'm going with Hard Candy for all because I am ignorant.

Taking Chances made no noise in the US - I can't even remember any of the singles or if I heard them during that time. That's not to demean Céline, it's just the facts. She was still selling like crazy but radio wasn't playing her and neither was the music channels. Madge on the other hand was still everywhere.

I'd say it's even. Celine selling on par with no hits is amazing. Hard Candy had 4 minutes and 2 other moderate hits. The album would've probably only sold half of that if it wasn't for those hits. Remember before streaming, you needed hits in order to sell an album. Very few artists did it without a big hit (Amy, Duffy, Norah, etc). Though the first two had a couple good sized hits in the long run.

Hard Candy but it's nothing to write home about.

Overall Hard Candy is the bigger in term of cultural impact and hits but it's fascinating how Taking Chances sold the same amount while being a very low profile album like some user said

Taking Chances is very underrated, it has some good tracks
