SmashingMiley Posted April 29 Posted April 29 This is orthognathic surgery aka jaw surgery, performed by maxillofacial surgeons. Not plastic surgery. Patients had real deformities (recessed jaws) which is why the results look so good and appear cosmetic after their jaws are re-aligned.
Mr.X Posted April 29 Posted April 29 the beauty industry is disgusting and keeps putting shame and body/image complexes on people. Natural beauty is stunning. This is just the standardisation of people's looks, and it is incredibly sad to witness. 1

This is just the standardisation of people's looks, and it is incredibly sad to witness. These people had actual facial deformities prior to their surgery. Their jaws were visibly crooked/recessed, their bites misaligned due to a variety of complex reasons which i'm not going to go into details now but to put it simply, jaw surgery, combined with orthodontic treatment, is designed to fix the misalignment of upper and lower jaw (underbites, overbites, crossbites etc) and restore balance as if the patients never had any jaw/bite issues in the first place. It's very different from your run-of-the-mill plastic surgery procedure. As this attempts to fix actual deformities in the face that usually go hand in hand with detrimental health issues (chewing/breathing difficulties, sleep apnea, etc if jaw is severely recessed and not treated), and has little to do with altering your natural features which is the aim of PS. Hence jaw surgery is classified as a medical procedure, not a cosmetic one. Of course not many people know this and oftentimes confuse the two looking at how jaw surgery can bring about "superior" and more natural looking cosmetic results compared with PS (and it can be performed alongside some minor PS procedures in some cases, depending on the specific needs of the patient) but i can assure you it's just a byproduct of facial harmony being restored in these patients. Remember: orthognathic surgery is ONLY performed on people with deformed jaws. 4 1

Do you have to suffer with breathing problems, chewing issues, general rudeness? You're wild if you think the lady in photo #4 wouldn't have been mistreated before the beauty even existed. You literally call their path to happiness "disgusting". Just because you disagree with society's way of forging that path doesn't mean you get to look down on these people and the path that they're basically forced to take. Your energy is completely misguided and literally does more harm than good. If you care so much, why don't you go find anyone looking like these people and comment how beautiful they are, instead of trying to tear them down after they already changed (for themselves!). - I know they'll never even see these comments, but this general mindset is so... "wow that's so deep bro" levels of bad
