Kill Me Posted April 29 Posted April 29 (edited) It's very very easy. Just withhold the album from streaming for the first week. With all her hype this year...Tada... 5M sales just like that. That is the reason Adele holds this record in the first place. Those 2M iTunes sales would have shrunk to 200k if she put it on streaming... let's be real. Edited April 29 by Miss Americana 1

Yes, that was when no one gave a **** about her compared to now. This is 2024 where she effortlessly debuts with 313M streams and people are still buying 1 million 50$ vinyl of the album... KEEP UP.

family.guy123 Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Which one? She's yet to break Hello's record of most sales in a week as well. Should be easy pickins for the biggest artist of all time 1
4Real Posted April 29 Posted April 29 She should give it up and stop trying to achieve more commercial success, it's gotten very very tired

The more than 800k units from streaming were listened multiple times by her fans and GP. That 800k units would have shrunk as well. Those who streamed the album were likely bought it as well. ATRL Moderator supaspaz Posted April 29 ATRL Moderator Posted April 29 Taylor doesn't quite have the cross-generational appeal that Adele did to be able to break that record. 25 sold that much because was everyone was buying it. Taylor is the biggest pop star in the world now, but her fan base is slightly narrower than Adele's was at that time. 3 1
Iaintsorry Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Well if she really wanted to I guess she could do a huge rollout with more press and appearances along with her high profile relationship, inescapable media penetration, and formats strategy, but honestly it would literally be just to beat that record. Like what more does she have to prove in terms of commercial success??

She had 900M streams in the first week. The biggest streaming week by anyone EVER. 900M/1125 = 800k Do you know what this means? You need to assume every person who streamed the album, streamed it 1125 times (37 listens of the album) which is physically impossible. The shrinkage of the 800k units will be very well compensated by the 3-5M sales she would have gotten from cheap iTunes sales. And the same people will still buy the cds and vinyl nothing would have changed lmao...idk what you were trying to do there. Actually... more old people will be buying CDs from the store to listen to it, so it will only result in extra sales.

The vinyl sales in its debut sales week can probably be disregarded entirely as it barely sold any vinyls then. Although yes they weren't as big, at its time 25s debut vinyl week was the 3rd biggest vinyl week since 1991. 1

Lmao. But, i'm sure bunch of those streams came from people/stans who also bought the album. So, you cannot guarantee that not putting the album on streaming will easily break the record. Taylor's album sales are mostly driven by her stans and old people are not on Taylor's demographics. Taylor sold more than 1.8m album sales while 25 sold more than 3.3m, i don't think not putting TTPD on streaming will give her an additional 1.5m to break Adele's record. Lol. 1 1
Feanor Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Nothing. She should be proud of herself for achieving her 7th 1M+ debut, ranging across 14 years. As ATRL likes to say, longevity >> quick peaks. 1
Arrows Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Midnights -> TTPD debuts increased by 62%, or 1 million units. TTPD -> TS12 needs to increase by 35%, or 900K units, to break Adele's record. I don't believe it's going to happen, but you never know. Taylor is fine-tuning her rollouts every time to see what works best for her.
