Witnessed ET Posted April 30 Posted April 30 I think Motivation is cute for what it is, but i cant understand people calling that Ariana reject better than the other songs she's released after it 1
Frappucino Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Imagine crying over your debut single when people are crying over when is your debut album gonna be released 1 1
dirrtydiana Posted April 30 Posted April 30 just listened to 1:59 and though it's better than we old side, motivation remains her best 1:59 sounds like an outro but even ordinary things on es is much better
cuteboyzay Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) I'm so sorry but that's what a label does. I know she didn't feel the song was "her" but girl that song did WONDERS and could've been a huge smash (it was already a hit) if she treated it better. If she feels her authentic self is what 1:59 is, then girl maybe the label was right for forcing you to put out Motivation. It was the perfect Pop Lead and the video was INSANNNEE! Still one of the best music videos I've seen from a big artist in years. I feel this generation has so much autonomy that we forget you WILL have to give up some level of control when it comes to these HUGE industries and million dollar contracts you're signing. Like girl, these people are professionalssss, just let them take the reigns a little. You are an investment to them girl. Edited April 30 by cuteboyzay 4
Vrx. Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Is that why 1:59 is bombing while Motivation looks like a massive streaming hit in comparison? 1 1
Solgayleo Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I can empathize with what she's saying here. I love Motivation and still bop to it, and I don't think she's explicitly saying she dislikes the song. I think she resented the lack of control associated with the song's release. It also clearly doesn't align with the sound she has otherwise been striving towards, which is far more RnB leaning. She's been stuck in record label purgatory for so long. I feel her

Iaintsorry Posted May 2 Posted May 2 It's so sad that she lost all her initial hype. She really could have been the successor to Beyonce or Rihanna. Her name is iconic, she has the presence, she just lacks the material (so far) and the momentum she originally had. In 2018, I honestly thought she'd be the most successful of the FH girls. 1

She had POP STARDOM at her fingertips but she seems dead set on being a mid rnb girl, she's probably thinking she's the next aaliyah/ashanti/sza. It's not gonna happen. She can't even pull Teyana Taylor numbers Edited May 2 by Pillz 1
