I love her more knowing she hated that trash too.

Motivation is her most commercial song and it's a bop.

Her new song is generic as f*ck.

I said this years ago, when I worked in label world and dropping light tea on here lol…that's why she never really promoted it + disappeared shortly after  Glad she's confirming.  :gaycat2:

Word is that she didn't even like "Waves" and had them make significant changes before she even recorded it.  I mean…it's a masterpiece now though.

But that said, her perfectionism is hindering her career overall…esp when the stuff you "perfect" and release is very….middle of the road.

Def not bad, just kinda…there.  I'm rooting for her still.  Still lots of potential (talent-wise).

SN: I think my fav Normani song besides "Waves" is "Slow Down"…

…with a feature and a reworked hook, this could've been something that worked for both R&B and Pop.

But I realize Calvin Harris was prob too expensive to keep recording with him.

I want her to do well, but I never understand why she sets herself up with all the grandiose statements. "It feels like a hit," "it's one of the most anticipated albums," "it was a cultural reset," etc.

I feel for the struggles she has experienced personally and as an artist, but when she discusses her music she never comes off as humble.

That song deserved so much better. It was my favorite Mani song for a very long while.

This may be slightly off-topic, but I think she has to allow herself to evolve into the sex symbol she wants to be. Madonna, Janet, Britney, Christina, Beyonce, and Miley did not start off with the overly sexual imagine. Madonna did not start off with Erotica. Janet did not start off with Anytime, Anyplace. Britney did not start off with I'm A Slave. Christina did not start off with Dirty. Beyonce had a sexy image, but she did not take it to the "next level" until her Self-Titled album.

I actually really liked "Motivation," and I recall it getting a lot of play when it very first debuted. It seems like people were enjoying it; in retrospect, it made a really good buzz single. I know she had things going on in her personal life during that time, but I wish she could have rode that wave.

Whining about your "old" music before you ever even release your debut album has to be some kind of record. Record breaking queen!

Motivation was a cool song to start your career, I mean every popstar started releasing what labels wanted, once they smashed they earned the right evolve and chose what to record.
