… she was part of Fifth Harmony… and fifth harmony released three LP's and at least one EP. She's since released multiple solo songs as well. Not sure how this is a lie. It wasn't all under her own solo act but it doesn't negate her experience

This is literally her FIRST album. The way she talks about her career is like she used to put out solo albums annually and then took a 5 year break. Which I don't mind, I just find it funny. My original comment wasn't shady or anything since I'm a fan myself.

Motivation was certified Platinum a year after release. Wild Side is 3 years old and still only Gold.

 

Motivation is the older song but pulling more daily streams, so I'd say that makes it the bigger hit.

Wild Side is eligible for 2X Platinum since last year, but the streams are dead asf now so it won't reach 3M anytime soon.

I don't even mind that she doesn't want to go the more pop route, but female r&b is thriving right now and Normani is adding nothing interesting to it. Whoever forced Motivation on her was clearly trying to play to her main strength which is her performance ability, which lends itself to more upbeat songs. Motivation itself just isn't a very good song. A full on quality bop with an energetic video showing off her dancing would really make her career.

No one is doing this Brandy/Aaliyah esque R&B, so how is she not adding anything interesting to it? Maybe to you, but other people certanly enjoy this (obviously myself included as a big fan of both Brandy and Aaliyah).

I really am rooting for Normani. However, I don't get why she hates on 'Motivation' so much. It's the best single she's released as her own (not as a feature or collaboration).

Normani will release the music she wants  I trust her vision, because I do think we'll get an excellent body of work. Instead of releasing quick little singles that come off as too try-hard, I'm glad she's taken her time with this, because we've all seen how that fared for another girl-group member turned soloist.
