An unfortunate situation all around, but at least she got to release the album and it's good. Vs them investing in some random Tiktoker who many flop after one song That's not really how it works. *If* she gets dropped / leaves, it's going to be with the label of having flopped, meaning she has barely any leverage to negotiate a favorable deal for herself. Being a "flop" puts you in a worse position than being new and unproven. Lower budget, less creative freedom etc... Artist development is pretty much dead these days. Labels invest little in that, therefore being "developed" isn't much of an advantage either. Additionally, labels expect their (newer) acts to be very proactive when it comes to marketing themselves on social media. Normani has never been great at that and even less so in recent years. I'm saying it's a wash. Whether Normani has prior artist development or not, labels are not gonna spend regardless. Normani is a seasoned performer, if given the opportunity and platform she could definately create buzz again with her performances (like she did in the past). Still nowhere close to being "viral" and it won't have a streaming effect at this level, but it's showing a bit of promise there. Also, Candy Paint is back to showing a bit of promise - its two main sounds have gained about 100 combined videos so far today. Again, not enough to be viral, but it could eventually turn into something.
