The meltdowns and personal attacks, whew. Girl you should take your own advice.

If the shoe fits, walk in it. Else, learn to mind your own business. :michael:

It's if the shoe fits, wear it.

Good luck with everything.

why someone with a Janet Jackson avatar act like 90% of someone under 50 in 2024 can name more than 2 janet jackson songs? Are you confused with her brother? :suburban:

Good luck with your violent emotional outbursts.

It's actually lyrics from her deep cut long story short off 2020 AOTY nominee evermore, which has over 192m streams on Spotify.

I woudln't expect you to know the reference anyways, or any of her songs from this generation apparently. :flower3: But trying to come for one's usage of language... How sad could you stoop on ATRL, a pop music forum?

English is a fluid language that could be expressed in many different ways, which Taylor did with this expression... Here's another expression then, "a hit dog gon' holler". Does that relate to you? Seems like it. :michael:

Good luck coping with your high-horse attitude parading around acting all high and mighty in life... You'll definitely need it, yup.

I can kinda see his point. She's an album artist and there's nothing wrong with that. I'd argue that's better than being a singles artist. :michael:

You called people fat, dirty and brain damaged over a mild critique of Taylor Swift's hitmaking ability, get a grip.

It's because the "inescapable song" is a relic of the monoculture that doesn't exist anymore

Flowers, Unholy, Kill Bill, I'm Good were inescapable in comparison to the GP unknown Anti-Hero :giraffe:

I don't even agree with what he says, but the Swifties asking "what is a Pet Shop Boy?" (or "what is a Courtney Love?" a week ago) are only revealing they are the most ignorant fanbase out there. Google is free. Use it. :deadbanana4:

Maybe then we'd be spared of such takes as "Don't Blame Me is gospel" and "End Game is a 90s rap song"...

like I understand the critiquing of her lately but… this is the dumbest drag ever :rip: she has MASSIVE hits. if we want to just dumb it down to full normie-mode, You Belong with Me, Shake It Off, Anti-Hero

"Love Story", "You Belong With Me", "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", "I Knew You Were Trouble.", "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", "Bad Blood", "Delicate", "Cruel Summer", "cardigan", "Anti-Hero" are all famous on some level and arguably classics.

"Our Song", "Should've Said No", "Mine", "All Too Well", "22", "Style", "Out Of The Woods", "Wildest Dreams", "Look What You Made Me Do", "I Don't Wanna Live Forever", "You Need To Calm Down",  "willow", and "Bejeweled" are all pretty big and known by the general public.

"Everything Has Changed", "…Ready For It?", "Lover", "The Man", "ME!", "Lavender Haze", "Karma", "Is It Over Now?" are all moderate hits many know.

"Fortnight" is about to at least enter the second category.

You're right, I did. Once again, a hit dog gon holler. Unless it fits you, move along? :michael:

It is factual that she has ubiquitous hits; there's a difference between mild critique about her hitmaking and having actual recognisable hits, whivh are especially prevalent amongst my people, MY generation and beyond. Everyone knows about YBWM, LS, SIO and BS at the very least. Or would you dismiss this fact by calling it a violent emotional outbreak again?

Good luck with everything, get a grip about artists you dislike. I can't help you with that.

I genuinely don't understand what joy you derive from commenting about artists you dislike so much. It's okay to dislike an artist, but to pretend she doesn't have the hits is dense and requires a new level of low.

classics are remembered hits that people love/use/listen to long after they were out.

Billie Jean is definitely a classic but you can't say the same about some "classics" that people mentioned in this thread. how is a song classic if nobody uses it :suburban:

anyway, they do everything for clout.mp3

People here not knowing Pet shop boys is a living proof, nothing remains forever in about 20 years or so Taylor music will also be spoken about like this! People are just not interested in visiting old music and that's alway been the case for most part.

For the fourth time, take your own advice. I don't know why that incites all these meltdowns and paragraphs, but I guess a hit dog gon holler (did Taylor say that in a song too?)

Don't present yourselves so ignorant, Pet Shop Boys are living legends and a major shaping vector of western pop music since their debut, releasing quality albums into their 70s.

Taylor HAS hits, but she definitely has no Billie Jean. And she was never praised for her melodies anyway, she's always praised for her lyricism (which is not bland at all).

I would defend him for shits and giggles but I couldn't tell you one PSB song title.

That's not his point though is it?

He wasn't comparing PSB to her. PSB were very big, especially in Europe, and were/are very influential . Very clever, witty, catchy stuff,( and with visuals/videos way ahead of their time)

But, and it's an important but, he's not saying PSB were in her league because by just about any numbers measure you pick they were not.

He's merely pointing out that for whatever reason ( and people on here have made good points about the more fractured cultural landscape now), she's not got the mega, all pervasive, "toddlers to grannies have heard of them" songs.

Where's the Thriller/Like a Prayer/Hit me baby one more time/Help/Satisfaction (old Mick Jagger's been singing that for fifty nine years and still going)/Waterloo/Born in the USA/Rolling in the Deep?

She's still astonishing but it is an oddity.

Why the subversion from the actual content of my reply:

"It is factual that she has ubiquitous hits; there's a difference between mild critique about her hitmaking and having actual recognisable hits, whivh are especially prevalent amongst my people, MY generation and beyond. Everyone knows about YBWM, LS, SIO and BS at the very least."

Seems like you are incapable of responding to actual merits, and need to resort to attacking form; coming for my mental state, English usage... and even my freedom to reply. Keep on topic, will ya? :michael:

And who do you think you are to police what I do? I guess the hit dog really be hollering right now? :michael:

My intention was never engage you on anything, your response is to spew violent, toxic abuse over the mildest critique of a random popstar. I only ever intended to point out the bullying and abuse. It's you that keeps spamming paragraphs at me saying that you're only allowed to point out said abuse if you are in fact fat and brain damaged. I mean, it's all very nonsensical and toxic.
