Le Grande Posted April 25 Posted April 25 They are right, and when I say she has 2 hits (Shake It Off and Anti-Hero) I get downvoted to hell. 18
Bey'Knight Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I guess her reach isn't trans-generational but her popularity is certainly bolstered by marketing manipulations. She's essentially released two albums n the numbers are being touted like it's a standard release. As days go by, Im more concerned about her psyche. The more I decipher, the more disturbing it is. Maybe the reason she's hellbent on outdoing herself commercially is because she never reaches the high she craves in her relationships. I really think Taylor would benefit immensely from intensive therapy sessions. 13 4 1 12
nostalgic Posted April 25 Posted April 25 What has she, what has she, what has she done to deserve this? 2 5
Mariya Takeuchi Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Shake it off is definitely on the cultural level that everyone knows it 1
Askeroff Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Its funny that nobody today talking about music But when those artist drags Taylor it will be in all headlines literally the same just happened with MGK and Courtney so if u need PR and press just use her name 1

ATRL will jump to co-sign anyway. Isn't that kind of his point though? It's 41 years old ( apparently), but is still massively well known by the GP. He's saying that she doesn't have anything of that universality ( in his opinion) given how utterly huge she is. 24

People are definitely missing the point. MJ was so huge but has many iconic songs which is why he mentioned Billie Jean, he is saying Taylor is huge but where are hers. The comparison to MJ was because he was so big. 21
Solaria Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I mean they're kinda right though. Taylor's albums are consumed as a whole which means individual songs do not stand out on their own.
mercurialworld Posted April 25 Posted April 25 He obviously forgot about global smash "...Ready for It?" in the moment 2 2

Popular Post i spit on haters Posted April 25 Popular Post Posted April 25 We've been saying this. Taylor doesn't even have a 'Crazy in love' or 'Single Ladies' let alone a damn Billie Jean. Hell, not even a Toxic or BOMT. A Vogue or Like a virgin. Or even an Umbrella or We Found Love. I hear more about this *****'s victim complex and her many relationships than I do her music and artistry. Or lack there of. 18 2 5 7
WhateverYouWant Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I agree, outside of maybe Shake It Off she doesn't have the iconic hits like other huge huge artists have.

Venice B Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Love them but this is the second time in a spam of a couple weeks Neil tried to go for Taylor like...? 1
Vermillion Posted April 25 Posted April 25 This is partially a generational thing, and I certainly hope they aren't thinking they ever really fit that category outside the UK except for West End Girls. There's also the subjectivity of cultural impact of songs by today's standards based on what format people think they may need to fit with big choruses and any impact vs. chart placement. There's massive streaming hits that don't even chart well at this point. Taylor's aesthetic has been all over the map. Whether she's a singles or albums artist or both is also subjective. His entire premise is based on a monoculture that no longer exists thanks largely to social media and I don't even stan for Taylor to defend her here. His argument is no longer relevant. The only person in the digital era that really broke through that splintered media ecosystem briefly was probably 21-era Adele and it was for targeting older demos anyways. 2
