nostalgia Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Despite her roles in iconic franchises like Game of Thrones and Hunger Games, Natalie Dormer hasn't achieved the same level of superstar status as her peers, Emily Blunt and Saoirse Ronan. While she's undeniably talented, the reasons behind her not reaching the same heights could be multifaceted. Factors such as timing, choice of roles, and perhaps the unpredictability of the entertainment industry might have played a role in her career trajectory. Nonetheless, Natalie continues to captivate audiences with her performances, and her journey in the industry is still ongoing, leaving room for future opportunities to shine. What happened? Are you still rooting for Natalie?
Witnessed ET Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 She's probably one big leading role away from superstardom like Lady Bird with Saoirse and A Quiet Place with Emily.
stoopidjenna Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Seems like she was focusing on launching her production company after GoT, but then the pandemic happened and she had a baby so she was on hiatus for several years. Her next few projects sound interesting.
Venom Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 She mothered too hard that she had to go on maternity leave for a bit. 1
popmusicisdead Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 that terrible Suicide Forest movie killed all her momentum i'm afraid
Achilles. Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 No but I ask myself this question all the time.
Gesi Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Is any actor become big after game of thrones? (except for dragon mother forget her name). 1

Emilia had some cute roles here and there but i guess she was tired and still recovering from the pain in her back after carrying the final Game of Thrones seasons by herself. 1
Triton Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 1 hour ago, Gesi said: Is any actor become big after game of thrones? (except for dragon mother forget her name). Gwendoline and Pedro are the ones that branched out the most. Out of the main cast none really, Emilia had great potential, Sophie started out great to then had kids and now divorce drama, Kit really didn't do anything, Masie a small role in the Dior show. Lena/Nikolai/Peter all peaked and they don't seem too ambitious. The pandemic really killed everyone's potential. Natalie gave me a very strict "holier than thou serious actress" attitude but knew how to work it very similar to Margeary, she has the talent and picked great roles at first but didn't keep the momentum. She could have gone a bit more comercial. 1
Tudors Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 (edited) King Henry chopped her head off. Kinda hard to go on auditions after that After one finishes watching the tudors one simply just needs to start again from the beginning and she's back Now for a real answer. Hollywood is mean to aging women Edited April 22, 2024 by Tudors

BreakawayDeluxe Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 I mean... she already gave us iconic performances as Anne Boleyn and of course Queen Margaery Tyrell... like that's more than enough for me (she's my favorite actress) but yeah I hope she has a resurgence 2

I mean they didn't lie though Saoirse Ronan and Emily Blunt are some of the most recognizable and bankable actresses of today.

I think the show ending right before covid was probably detrimental to a lot of their careers. They couldn't really strike while the iron was hot, so to speak. Dinklage and Pascal are the two "breakout" stars, though both were already fairly established actors beforehand. But I'd say that most of the "younger" cast (Clarke, Turner, Madden, Williams, Harington) have had decent careers for B-list tv actors. Dormer is an odd case, though. She left the series many years before covid and basically dropped off the face of the earth. It's sad, too, because I recall that the rumors (or was it confirmed?) from back then were that Natalie asked to be written off the show so she could move on to other things. IDK if they were planning to kill her character off that season anyways or not, but… Edited April 22, 2024 by Achilles.

Gesi Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 Reading the comments and the names of the actors you all mentioning i'm starting to remember the faces of characters and the show again.
eleganceislearned Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 She's more like Diana Rigg or Gillian Anderson - lots of british tv and theater instead of big Hollywood films after her iconic role(s). She has a very specific, cunning femme fatale look that kept her from playing more ingenue type roles too. I'm surprised she was never a Bond girl.
Scandalous Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 i thought this thread was gonna be about Cascada
