All the people talking about "standing by your work" or asking "who's afraid of Swifties??" seem to be forgetting that:

a) there is documented history of stans threatning or doxxing reviewers;

b) Taylor has routinely weaponized her fanbase to do her dirty work (though she's not the only popstar to do so) and has not once told them to calm down;

c) we've seen what deranged stans are capable of (the Björk stalker case).

 

It doesn't matter if most of her fanbase are harmless teenagers or Live Laugh Love striaght women. All it takes is ONE violent Swiftie for the situation to turn very ugly. I don't blame them for hiding the byline, especially since Swifties have proven their point by trying to discover the journalist.

I would say you're right. She seems to have attracted all the batshit insane stans from other fanbases who mainly stan for success, and abandoned their original faves who aren't as big or relevant as they used to be.

This. It HAS to be because Swifties nevverrr use to be like this until Midnights came along. They may have had a few bad eggs, but like this is even more than Monsters type of crazy.

I think her commercial dominance has attracted a lot of people that only care about arguing and being toxic online and not whatever art Taylor produces. You see it on here where all certain posters talk about is streams and Taylor stomping on our faves. Sweetie who cares, if I was superficial enough to stan numbers I would stan Taylor too.

exactly.  I made it the entire weekend without hearing one note of this album or hearing about the album from ANYONE in the real world.  None of my coworkers were talking about it. No chit-chat amongst customers, like literally nothing.  It was great.  And then you come here and it's like people can't even go about their day without obsessing over streams and lyrics and how many times you're forced to listen to the whole album so it grows on you.  Yuck.  Luckily in the real world none of this means anything cuz like that one user said, it's all echo chambers.

Same thing with me and yet when I say this online everyone is so shocked or claiming i'm lying, not one word from anyone about this but about everything else inlcuding the new Deadpool Movie. It's like the hype of her only exist online which means it isn't real but manufactured and when you mention her success to other people nobody cares or is shocked by it, it will be a hard pill for her fans to shallow when they realize no matter how successful she is no one cares outside of her fanbase.
