Gelato Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) Which one is it? edit: I spelt Booths incorrectly in the poll idk it really (it's like a northern Waitrose apparently) Edited April 19 by Gelato
glitch Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Waitrose > M&S > Sainsbury's > Co-op >>>> Tesco >Aldi = Lidl >>>>>>>>> Asda We don't have many Morrisons down south and I have no idea what a Booths is 1

abelfenty Posted April 19 Posted April 19 M&S > Sainsbury's > Waitrose > Tesco > Morrisons > Aldi > Lidl >>>>> Asda Have never shopped at a Co-Op and I've never in my life heard of Boothes. Asda is especially bad because I used to work there and it was a dump 2
Angelo Posted April 19 Posted April 19 M&S, the milk and other M&S brands are not even expensive. I like going to Waitrose too. Everyone looks so proper there. 1

Asda is especially bad because I used to work there and it was a dump i never shopped at a co-op either until i went for uni. my uni city is infested with them, they're definitely the main corner/convenience shops here. it's decent for picking up lunch but i definitely wouldn't do anything close to a full shop there yea asda stores are always less modern inside and kind of dingy, i find the quality of their products identical to tesco though and prices are normally quite decent. nearest asda is like 40 minutes by train from me now though

The shelves were a mess and nothing was in a logical place. I've heard a lot of people rave about their bakery so I had a look while I was there and it was nothing I couldn't find in any other supermarket I would never do a full shop in M&S or Waitrose, waste of money imo, but it's nice for the occasional thing or for a treat. When I was growing up my dad used to alternate between a weekly food shop at Sainsbury's and Tesco and the drop in quality on the Tesco week... 1
jonapova Posted April 19 Posted April 19 M&S, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Co-Op, Asda, Tesco. Never been to a Sainsbury's, or heard of Booth's and I'm Northern 1

When I was growing up my dad used to alternate between a weekly food shop at Sainsbury's and Tesco and the drop in quality on the Tesco week... the lidl bakery is SO overrated, my mum bought some stuff from there and it ranged from mediocre to terrible. M&S bakery is nice but it's way overpriced I actually noticed that M&S have held their prices for general groceries down as best they can during the cost of living crisis though. In my first year of uni I only bought a couple of things from there a week but now I do most of my shop there. So many things (especially pantry stuff) are priced the same or cheaper than Sainsbury's but are better quality. Also during exam week it's a lifesaver if you need ready made food that you can just cook quickly in the oven - you can get enough chicken nuggets/tenders/goujons to cover the main part of your dinners for a week for £12, and three pasta ready meals that don't taste like **** for £9. americanshameless Posted April 19 Posted April 19 M&S for quality, ASDA for value (apart from the obvious other two) 1

Dante Silva Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I used to like Tesco's and found it had the better prices (more so than Aldi/ Lidl) and also the best range of stock. I moved to another area and now live in proximity to The Co-Op, Sainsbury's, M&S Food and Morrisons. I wouldn't recommend The Co-Op as it's prices are higher like Waitrose (despite The Co-Op not being a premium brand in the way Waitrose is). The Co-Op's card based points system is the most generous of all supermarkets, so you kind of get the extra money back (to an extent). I used to shop at Morrison's but its stock was consistently too low for just long enough to make me switch to Sainsbury's which has slightly higher prices than Morrison's but also a slightly better quality of stock. I've never really lived in close enough proximity to an Asda to shop there very often. I understand they were taken over by and are now wholly owned by the U.S. store brand Walmart which I'm not too keen on as they are anti-unionisation. I think Waitrose (and to a lesser extent) M&S Food are overpriced and you get more bang for your buck elsewhere. I wouldn't be seen dead in Waitrose without my best clothes or a suit on. 1
butterflymimi Posted April 19 Posted April 19 i use aldi for my full shops, tesco would be my choice if i was so at home though rather than living in a city where there are v few big supermarkets. manchester is full of co ops, i could probably rank them from fave to least fave at this point 1
makeawish Posted April 19 Posted April 19 M&S is the posh choice, sainsbury's for everyday. i don't believe in boothes it isn't real 1
Jack! Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I'm a Sainsbury's girlie. But also love M&S for the quality and if you invest into their meal-deals to pack out a weekly shop it's less expensive than people think. And in terms of the more budget friendly ones ASDA slays. Lidl and Aldi are good to nip into for bits and bops since they're also inexpensive. I don't have a Waitrose near me here and Scotmid/co-op is too dear. And perhaps controversially Tesco is absolutely TRASH. Maybe it's just the big ones near me are always messy and low on stock, but it's also I've genuinely never had a Tesco-own-brand item that I think I've ever enjoyed. 1
HarajukuPrincess Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Not British but my friends tell me that Tesco has got it goin on 1
Gwendolyn Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Aldi is so **** I was shocked when I first went 2 years ago, not been in since. I like M&S and Waitrose; I like Lidl for the basics. Tesco is iconic too. 1 1
Maxxie Posted April 19 Posted April 19 M&S and Tesco although I haven't lived there in 8 years. when I visit I love going to M&S. they have great ideas when it comes to food for nights in 1
