These lyrics just confirm what we've all known. Jack Antonoff doesn't push back or edit her ideas enough.

yes. Just because her writing is sometimes bad (your examples) doesn't mean that she cannot write anymore. she still can write, just sometimes her pen is weak

only when she isnt trying to be. whenever she tries extra hard to demostrate her "lyrical geniusness" like with this album, she just ends up making wordy read-out-loud clasroom assignments instead of proper songs. espically in today's standard where all you need is a quick 2:30 tune with catchy production and melody, the overdone word salad messes are so unnecessary.

i guess this is exactly what happens when you buy into your own tale which you created.

Yes. Most great writers have plenty of silly and cringe  lines . Those who try to avoid those at all costs don't take risks needed for amazing writing.

Anyway, that verse is supposed to be ridiculous since it's about showing how her and her partner are modern idiots and not actually tortured poets.

focusing on one line on one song of 31 as evidence for her being a bad lyricist? try harder.

No. TTPD is far too wordy and try-hard. She's lost her touch

Weird, I find the lyricism in TTPD so much better than Midnights (and Midnights also have strong lyrics). I think the Charlie Puth line works with the melody of the song... It's a bit campy but I didn't feel like it's an awkward lyric, it fit right in. TTPD (title track) is actually one of those cleverly made songs in the album.

I guess it's just me.

She will never be a Grammy-nominated songwriter for Best Reggae Album like La Toya, I fear

You think I listened to the album. I didnt. It's just sth I saw and Tw and decided to hate.

Obsessing over one line in a 31 songs album should answer your own question.

Yes, spelling is fun!

I just cringe when I listen to that tortured poet song with the Charlie Puth and golden retriever lines. It's so bad
