This deserves to be in the 50s cuz it's such an offensively terrible album but of course in the era of poptism, it's gonna end up in the 80s. :toofunny3:

I mean Rolling Stone has been on Taylor's payroll for so long:

- folklore: 4.5/5

- evermore: 4.5/5

- Red TV: 5/5

- Midnights: 5/5

- 1989 TV: 5/5

- TTPD: 5/5

It's hardly professional anymore, and of course several of these reviews were from Rob Sheffield :cm:

The fact that they gave Folklore (an excellent record) a 4.5/5 and this turd got a 5/5 skskks :deadbanana4:

The whole system is an absolute joke.

MIDnights, Tortured Eardrums and those cheap re-recordings getting a higher score than her two best albums

It seems that Taylor Swift has found her aesthetic comfort zone. This is a problem. Musically, Swift has fallen into a holding pattern of soft-thrumming synthpop and even softer quasi-folk. The sounds and patterns — the gentle keyboard twinkles, the tick-tock drum machines, the shivery chords, the murmuring multi-tracked backup vocals — are all played out.

In the past, Taylor Swift albums have presented some new idea, some sonic progression or wrinkle. At least for now, that's over. Swift remains in the Midnights zone, and what we get is what we get.

I like Taylor Swift bonus tracks, but I've gotten a lot of them over the past few years, and she has just dropped another 31 of them — a same-sounding chunk that lasts for more than two hours and almost never cranks the energy-level up. It's excessive.

Nice write-up from Stereogum. Doesn't count for MC.

Rob is just a pop gay. He is usually very kind to all the girls, even the panned ones :rip:

Rob Sheffield is straight :rip: don't let his One Direction/Taylor Swift stanning fool you.

I'm not sure which is bigger crime, the inflated reviews or scoring forklore and evermore as the worst of her recent releases.

Ig OTH can't decide if publications are paid by her not

They celebrate bad reviews and hate on good reviews

I have never seen this level of obsession but not remotely surprised

Tbh I don't really get this drag because I don't see why people are surprised that intense stans breed intense haters.

The solution at both ends is the same: get a life.

Not the haters already camping here after that one bad review popped off :rip:

Taylor is one of the greatest lyricists of all time but the criticism of certain lyrics is totally fair. They stand out like a sore thumb because they are surrounded by well written verses, which makes them even more jarring. For me, this album sits above Midnights, Reputation and Lover but well behind her best works like Folklore/Evermore, Fearless, Speak Now and 1989.

The last time she received a negative (40<) review was in 2017 with reputation
