I do feel like on Daddy I love Him she basically confesses she was madly in love with Matt but her fandom's reaction and outrage made her end. I think is very depressing how she sacrificed love in order to please her toxic fandom.

Did you even listen to it? :skull: That's not what she's saying at all.

This whole release felt like Midnights 2.0, we all hated it at first and then switched when the acclaim and numbers came rolling in. I'm already switching  but she truly does need to take a break and switch up the sound next time

Midnights is still a mess.
This new album is a wild masterpiece. I love this new direction she is going

Yes I did. Did you? :foxaylove2:

I'll tell you somethin' right now
I'd rather burn my whole life down
Than listen to one more second of all this bitchin' and moanin'
I'll tell you somethin' 'bout my good name
It's mine alone to disgrace
I don't cater to all these vipers dressed in empath's clothing

[Bridge]
God save the most judgmental creeps
Who say they want what's best for me
Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see
Thinkin' it can change the beat
Of my heart when he touches me
And counteract the chemistry and undo the destiny
You ain't gotta pray for me
Me and my wild boy, and all of his wild joy
If all you want is pray for me
That's just white noise, that's just my choice

Rob Sheffield is the person that said "Britney Spears uses auto-tune the same way Bob Dylan used the harmonica" and gave Britney Jean and Beyoncé's Self-Titled the same score.

He is an utterly incompetent music critic, absolutely biased and unreliable and the fact Rolling Stone had him review Taylor's album when he's currently selling a book written just to praise her shows how much of an embarassment of a music publication they've become.

I remember that, he's basically a Britney stan at Rolling Stone who in her absence from music pivoted to Taylor (while quietly bumping Blackout up on the all time albums list every year). But his delusions aside, Poets is good :clap3:

Ok, so WAOLOM and the bridge of BDILH? There are 16 songs on the album :toofunny2: Still seems odd to focus on her reflections on fame when it's not a prominent narrative on the album at all.

Also, it's clear there were a lot of other issues with Matty (who IS a prominent subject on the album :skull:), so the narrative that she only dumped him because of fan reactions clearly doesn't hold up now.

These parts don't prove the point you're trying to make :deadbanana2: she's saying she doesn't give a **** what people say about their relationship and it doesn't change how she feels about him

"I don't cater to all these vipers dressed as empaths" sis who do you think she's talking about here :deadbanana2:

People are trying to drag him when in reality he is the one who initiates poptimism in RS and save most pop girls otherwise the publication keep licking rock artists like U2 etc.

They've got to be lying :rip:

Even the fans are panning

Um. She's getting at minimum and 8.0

I have noticed it isn't just Taylor, but for a lot of releases, the more popular they are and the more established an artist is, they will generally get a much higher score no matter what.

There are some exceptions like Drake.

Which fans are panning?

The Arianators and Hives that listened to album before release?

Afaik in swifties reception is better than Mid

Although I understand if someone doesn't like the album. It's simply not for everyone

They want the clicks, it's not that complicated. Print is dead and they all rely on ad revenue. And they want access to notoriously vindictive Taylor and they don't want the hassle of her fans harassing them so they softball her and inflate a 7 score to a 9.

it's fine not to like an album guys

I personally was not that impressed by the OG material but grew to like it with each listens, it was good but nothing spectacular... but the Anthology add... OH MY it's almost competing for my top 3 album

Well, it's not surprising that some fans would not like an album. We're talking about the artist with the biggest fanbase out there by a very large margin. Of course when you have so many fans, an album might not be the cup of tea of many.

The reaction from fans is still overwhelmingly positive in general.

...this is not the average you get to be deemed a "decent review", the album is in the 90s region :skull:
