No, journalism is dying. The trend of celebrating every minor album is definitely going to continue, even if right now journalists think it is cool to hate on Taylor Swift.

I doubt that. 

 

Albums that get retrospective acclaim are usually albums that were bold moves and very different for the artists and were not understood at the time. See Erotica.

 

TTPD is the opposite of that. It's a stagnation of Taylor's artistic capabilities and rehashes most of its sounds, themes and elements from previous records. And the positive reactions that it is having is due to her status as the biggest pop star out there currently. 

 

If anything, it being in the high 70s will be seen as even more of a joke when her imperial phase is over and people won't be blinded by the success.

Knowing Taylor and seeing how weird things are happening with this album, this may just be true.

If anything, this album is the Be Here Now (Oasis) of our generation. Hyped to the heavens, extremely bloated, and with (most) reviewers being blinded by the hype. Look up the retrospective reviews of that album for an idea of what will happens to this.
