Peroxide Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Yeah I really think in 5 years time this album is going to be held in a very different light… let them cast stones. The fans are happy… that's the main thing. 3 1 3
NEX Posted April 22 Posted April 22 This is so unserious. Can someone enlighten me about Sputnik and how/why they are allowed to have multiple reviews count towards metacritic? Watch Taylor Nation intervene and have them forever banned from counting towards any scores tho

Back in 2013 when Beyonce got an 85 for ST that score was literally unheard of in the pop scene, and that was such a monumental release. Nowadays people get 80 scores simply for existing. Music journalism is in need of a shake up. 17

Burn Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Funny how swiftys have no problem with one extreme (perfect 100 scores) but they do with the low scores. 2 3 1

FolkLover1989 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 So first time for a double album , they got new page And now sputnik just gave 4 reviews So much effort is being done so that it goes below 70. Love this 1
Venice B Posted April 22 Posted April 22 inb4 she's also paying for the bad reviews just so her reputation moment later this year makes more sense COME THROUGH MASTERMIND! 2

NEX Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Watch this album be a turning point in music journalism and the end of poptimism. I welcome it tbh, because everyone and their grandma were getting universal acclaim in the past half a decade that it was impossible to tell which albums were worth checking out and which weren't 2 3

The first volume is spectacular and the second one doesn't quite stick the landing. If this album came out in 2022 (instead of Midnights) we'd be seeing a different kind of critical reaction. Anyways, 78 is a good enough score… I'll reserve getting my knives out unless it somehow falls into the 60's. Edited April 22 by Peroxide

It's pretty much across the board (except for people who have always been considered a joke to critics like Katy, Bieber, JLo, etc)
