TTPD has 31 songs and on a first listen the only song that really stood out to me was Florida

This sort of clumsy, juvenile melodrama can be quite charming when it comes from an overly earnest adolescent with a thesaurus in one hand and a tear-stained journal in the other; a professional musician, especially the world's most famous one, doesn't get quite as much leeway. 1
DiegoMarcoCMM Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Quote In the 16 songs that make up the main album (produced mostly by Antonoff), only the giddy bubblegum club beat and sing-speak sass of "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart" stands out. It's the only moment when the idea of "trying something new" seems to have occurred to Swift. No lies here 1 1

justin. Posted April 22 Posted April 22 "Bubblegum club beat." They are literally throwing words together at this point.

CaptainMusic Posted April 22 Posted April 22 (edited) High 70s is a good score for this, I don't agree with a lot of the bad reviews completely but they're needed to weigh down the overly positive ones. Hopefully this drives her to make a better album next time like she did with Folklore. Edited April 22 by CaptainMusic
Popular Post Space Cowboy Posted April 22 Popular Post Posted April 22 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tortured_Poets_Department I was about to say that someone needs to change the wikipedia page from "universal acclaim" to "generally favorable reviews". But someone already did it, they did not lose time 15

Spilling the truth about the production Taylor work with stuart price or the producer of flowers or max martin again. Drop antonoff and maybe has some 3-4 songs with dessner and thats it Edited April 22 by AvadaKedavra

This sums it up so well too, I think that's what annoys me. Taylor has so much power and talent, this woman could release something like self-titled where she really bares her soul in a HONEST way and yet she chooses to rehash her old high school ideas and thoughts at 34 years old. Especially when you compare her to her peers like Madonna and Beyonce who released incredible albums at that age that were mature and universally acclaimed. 4
Machete Posted April 22 Posted April 22 It's crazy how in the era we live in a 78 is considered panned for pop girls. I mean it's true, but a mere 8 years ago this would've been an excellent score stans celebrate about 2
Aribiotch. Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Not a 6 point drop , whew. No universal acclaim for you, mwah!

She could be releasing God-tier albums, but I genuinely think she lacks the gutsiness of Madonna, Beyoncé or Janet to go there. We're never getting a Velvet Rope, ST or Ray of Light from her. Folkmore is as good as its getting. 7
