He did have success in 2022 with Light Switch and Left & Right (moderate hits) with L&R surpassing 900 million streams on Spotify now. This lead to most 2010's pop artists flopping/being not cared about in Korea. (Only artists to survive are Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.) Thus, American music companies stopped heavily promoting their artists in the country ever since. So now random, non A-list pop artists who have gone viral in Korea for different reasons (comedian parodies, K-pop idols covers, etc.) or evoke the coffee-shop music elements of Korean Ballad/Indie singers have thrived in Korea as outliers.
