I think I remember from somewhere that Taylor is generous when sharing writing credits. Like if someone comes up with a new melody for the same lyric, I think she credits them in writing. But I could totally be making that up.

Not exactly that but many cowriters have stated Taylor does most of the heavy lifting (e.g. Liz Rose, Imogen Heap, even Max Martin during the Shake It Off case)

The writing credits aren't only about the lyrics or the melody. If she builds a song on an instrumental made by someone that someone will be credited as a songwriter even if they didn't write one word for the song. So most of these tracks are probably still "written" by her alone but she simply wrote them on top of instrumentals made by Jack or Aaron.

I am aware of that, I assume he was talking about the actual lyrics though. That's the part I think she's very generous about.

Glad I didn't set any expectations for this record like I did with Mids.

8 vs 5. He's probably all over the bonus tracks too. How is this similar to midnights (standard edition)?

i am WILLING to settle for this tenchi-arick.gif as long as Jack isn't touching THOSE songs, i won.

Fortnight 3:48 Bell

The Tortured Poets Department 4:53 Aaron

My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys 3:23 Jack

Down Bad 4:21 Jack

So Long, London 4:22 Aaron

But Daddy I Love Him 5:40 Aaron

Fresh Out the Slammer 3:30 Jack

"Florida!!! 3:35 Jack

"Guilty as Sin?" 4:14 Jack

Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? 5:34 Jack

I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) 2:36 Jack

Loml 4:37 Jack

I Can Do It with a Broken Heart 3:38 Aaron

The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived 4:05 Jack

The Alchemy 3:16 Jack

Clara Bow 3:36 Aaron

I can't complain really. I got 3/5 songs i wanted Aaron to be on. 12/16 were right, assuming 🤔 was produced by Hack, which they likely are.

Unfortunate that Aaron did not get TTPD & Broken Heart, but trading those for Smallest Man & Loml is ok, not optimal, but ok.

I WISH there was more Aaron, but i did say i was willing to SETTLE for 5 :dies:

Fortnight 3:48 Bell (technically Antonoff, but he's basically bell 2.0 anyway x)

The Tortured Poets Department 4:53 Aaron

🤔 My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys 3:23 Jack

Down Bad 4:21 Jack

 So Long, London 4:22 Aaron

But Daddy I Love Him 5:40 Aaron

Fresh Out the Slammer 3:30 Jack

🤔 "Florida!!! 3:35 Jack

"Guilty as Sin?" 4:14 Jack

🤔 Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? 5:34 Jack

I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) 2:36 Jack

Loml 4:37 Jack

I Can Do It with a Broken Heart 3:38 Aaron

The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived 4:05 Jack

The Alchemy 3:16 Jack

 Clara Bow 3:36 Aaron

Hopefully a Dessner production :weeps:

Taylor is VERY generous with writing credits, Aaron Dessner is credited for Cardigan but he shared the first draft she sent him of the song and it's almost the same, bar a verse or two changed.

This, plus if I'm remembering correctly, it was the same case with Willow. Also, we know Dorothea was likely solely written by Taylor because the instrumental was Aaron's from years ago.

If we all recall that Jack can, in fact, do more than synth pop - see Lana's NFR! album for example - this track list with these two producers both decently involved is really kinda giving Evermore :fan:

I mean, even the majority of Midnights wasn't "synth pop".

Certain users don't like Jack and don't even have the musical vocabulary to criticize him properly. :thing:

I think now it's time for my cold shower. Oooo i love good news.

Midnights (regular) had 11/13 = 85% Jack co-writes

TTPD (regular) has 8/16 = 50% Jack co-writes

an improvement :jonny5:

The problem isn't Jack himself though, at least to me. He produced Ocean Blvd which is one of my favorite albums of the decade. But his work with Tay hasn't been exciting lately and I strongly believe they need a break from each other. A&W's production is...godly. Let's hope he puts some of that talentussy here.
