i'm going to explode from excitement.

HOW DO YOU girls boys and non-binaries listen to the record for the first time?

i usually want to listen to the album for the first time while reading the lyrics at the same time. it's a mind-blowing experience, and ever since folklore i've been doing it through the YouTube videos, but it's annoying because the videos are not in order. so i have to keep manually looking for them which interrupts the first-listen party. :clack:

I typically make a playlist of every single lyric video in order and then have my very listen of the album by watching them as close to 11 PM CST as possible. This way I am getting 100% accurate lyrics, some cute animations, and supporting her channel directly :heart2:.

The only time I have not done this is with Midnights when the lyric videos dropped several hours later. For that, I streamed on Spotify and read the lyrics from the official digital booklet that was available immediately when the album came put. I woke up to the 3am Edition and refused to listen to those seven tracks until the lyric videos were out.

Prior to folklore, I had a tradition of going to Target to buy Taylors' albums on release date and not listen to anything until I got home. Then I would have my first ever listening experience with my mom via CD through our stereo with the lyric booklet in-hand.

Now since living with my fiancé, I have my first listening experiences of Taylor's albums with them. However, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT is extra special as this is the first ever all new Taylor album we will be experiencing together. Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and 1989 (Taylor's Version) were both obviously re-recordings with a few "brand new" vault tracks each.

We even experienced our first listening experience of COWBOY CARTER ever together the same way: lyric videos for every song from Beyoncé's official YouTube channel.

So yes, Thursday night at 11 PM CST will be a very special experience for the both of us. They are not a Swiftie (not even really much of a fan, really), but regardless they enjoy it and seeing my excitement. They love and support me very much .

If the album happens to l**k beforehand, I will NOT be listening or reading any lyrics. The most I will do is read credits and look at the photoshoot from the booklet(s).

Spoiler

She better drop the lyric videos immediately at midnight EST or I will be coming for her, because unlike Midnights, there is no digital booklet.

Ugh. rep is hitting so hard. I wanna spend all day listening to it. :chick3: But I only have 260 Lord plays available through Thursday, and I'm gonna need most of them for folkmore. :chick3:

It is amazing that we are 5 days from release and not one bit of information has leaked except for the tracklist months ago. I wonder if they've tighten since then. I'm beginning to think the chicken will remain enclosed until Thursday night

If Target gets album Tuesday

Chicken will be everyone by Wednesday

Even her team can't control that. No one can

Me on Tuesday and Wednesday parting the crowds talking about chicken so that I can give filet mignon and escargot the respect they deserve.

1989 tv leaked the Monday before but I don't think this will tbh. I think Thursday it leaks the earliest. At this point I'm unsure if I'll listen

The verses on Delicate really roll off the tongue, doesn't it?

Third floor on the west side

Handsome you're a mansion

With a view

Ugh, I can just imagine a scene where it starts off as a long shot and then the camera quickly zooms towards the mansion, in sync with the synths.

No, Tusk mentioned Tay sleeping after going to Coachella, implying we won't get any promo because of it… As if her team can't handle online marketing, which doesn't require her physical input. Some of y'all are becoming aggravating about all this.

@Dear Reader @FolkLover1989

Thank you!!

And yes, for everyone who is wondering, I still buy her physical albums on release day/during release week. However, unfortunately for this album, I will have to hold off as I can not afford it because I am in-between jobs and have less than $2. Everything I did have was going to essentials such as bills, groceries and an air mattress so my mom has something to sleep on in her new place.

If I ever have the desire to listen to the original versions of 1989 and reputation, I just play my CD copies. I had to rebuy them a few months ago as me and my mother lost 95% of our belongings in a fire last March.

So as if right now, my physical Taylor Swift albums collection is small: The South American deluxe version of the original 1989 (the only legitimate/non-bootleg one that's affordable, plus it's more glossy so a win-win situation?), the original reputation on CD, a Midnights Blood Moon Edition vinyl, and two copies of 1989 (Taylor's Version) [the Aquamarine Green and Rose Garden Pink Target exclusive CDs).

I used to have literally everything you could think of including the original folklore era cardigan, the Japanese deluxe edition of 1989, and a signed folklore CD. I will rebuy everything in the future, even if it is a financial burden.

I am hoping to own at least one physical copy of THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT soon. I desperately want The Black Dog Edition vinyl and at least one Target exclusive CD, probably The Bolter Edition one. I have a gut feeling that will be my favorite bonus track.

Sorry for all of the ranting but I greatly appreciate you all reading/listening!!

my ADHD ass won't allow me to listen to the album from start to finish. I usually listen to first song, second song and then shuffle and see what hits me the most and then circulate those tracks before I'm ready to move to other ones. It took me a year to discover "Mad woman" and "Hoax"

Yeah didn't Midnights leak like a week before release? I remember listening to Snow on the Beach snippet somewhere and loving it!
