Oh Shake It God. The pop masterpiece that you are. They could never make me hate you.

The way that I was so heartbroken when WANEGOD dropped because I was pissed about her going pop, but two years of copium plus a recent prescription for anti-depressants had me prepared to receive the lord's gospel in the summer of 2014. It was love at first listen. I remember sitting there watching the livestream grinning and dancing as she premiered the song.

It's kinda the best-produced of all her pop smashes, and only elevated by the rerecording. The horns! The hums! The three handclaps! Groovin'! Mu-zak! The backing vocals on the chorus and bridge! (So much more noticeable on the rerecording, and pleasantly so)! MA! HUH! OH! Hella good hair! The adlibs in the outro! The post-chorus I I I, I SHAKE IT OFF! The giggle! The way you can hear her wink and smirk on the finale "shake" in "we could shake, shake, shake!” The way that nobody on Earth ever once accused her of staying out too late! The Robyn callout! Perhaps best of all, the oo-oo-oohs at the end of each chorus!

 ̶M̶a̶x̶ ̶M̶a̶r̶t̶i̶n̶’̶s̶ Christopher Rowe's magnum opus! I don't know a better pop smasha!

There are certain songs where the studio versions are kinda just ruined a little bit after you've experienced them live.

Listening to "Clean" without repeating the "I'm never gonna risk it" and "Trouble" without her repeating "The saddest fear comes creeping in.” They just don't hit the same I'm afraid.

So is Taylor gonna perform Karma with Isis? Since she's there at Coachella? Also I'm surprised she went to see Jack but not Lana yesterday ngl

Swifties are getting brave after two very successful eras? 2016 made some of y'all scared to just enjoy the good tidings. You should not be this worried about what other stanbases might say 💀

It's one thing to enjoy the fruits of our commercial labor, it's another to set unreachable expectations :rip:

Right, I mean, if Swifties are getting brave, it's because her peak in the last year and a half has been astronomical and unpredictable. I can't really personally say that I think any prediction seems unreasonable because it's so hard to tell - and that means it's not really worth thinking too hard about.

She probably had stuff to do (like sign another 90k copies :gaycat2:).

There are vids of them dancing and having a blast during Bleachers set. Ugh, Tayhappiness getting me through the album release wait. :coffee:

Okay so I had to look this up because I was curious and… I actually never realized that the longest song on Midnights is "only" 4:20 (4:38 if you count YLM), the longest on 1989 TV is 4:39, the longest on Lover is 4:53, and the longest on Reputation is only 4:04 :deadbanana2:

This track list definitely seems more in line with her albums that aren't pure pop, and now I actually get why people get hyped about the five minute threshold.

TTPD, Red, and folklore have 16 tracks. genius
