Losing him was blue like I'd never known

Missing him was dark grey all alone

Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you'd never met

But loving him was RED

Back to the Old Testament one last time for We Are Forever Going Back to Heaven. What a pop masterpiece. She really sat Max down in the studio and told him that she wanted to make history. The way there's just a sprinkling of country elements and themes, the way the chorus is so strong and catchy that people are COMPELLED to scream along in their car at the top of their lungs, the way the stomp-clap production heralded the indie boom that occurred right alongside this.

Yes, the New Testament version of this was BUTCHERED (those who helped Lord with the translations of this song from Hebrew into Greek for the New Testament were clearly agents of the Devil), and I pretend that it was never translated, but the Old Testament version... yeah, she's taking it. There's something more infectious than the worst strain of Covid in the "wee-eeee"s that's crack to midwest moms and the occupants of their minivans, and also to ME!

Red is THE Taylor Swift album, the moment I started stanning :jonny:

The first time WANEGOD graced my ears and I couldn't let go before I replayed it 100x that night. An instant classic. Then the promo singles each week, each one so different from the other. I have to admit I wasn't feeling IKYWT at first cuz the thought of her doing electronic pop music scared me, but I saw the light eventually.

Everything on Red is necessary, the whiplash of Treacherous > IKYWT > ATW > 22 and so on keeps you in for the ride, Stay Stay Stay is not bad, it's just camp, The Lost Time is where she almost loses the plot but it's still a perfectly listenable sing, Holy Ground >>>> work of art, the haunting honesty in SBT, TLO has some of my favorite lines from her, EHC is a bit of a dud but blame Ed Sheeran, and then Starlight, the love of my life :heart2: And then Begin Again which initially I felt was weird as a closer cuz it's such a light ballad, almost like a hug, but the more time passed the more I understood.

All this time I didn't know
You were breaking down
I'd fall to pieces on the floor
If you weren't around
Too young to know it gets better
I'll be summer sun for you forever
Forever winter if you go-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

I don't understand people who complain about songs being "too long".

Like do y'all have the attention span of a goldfish?

Did quick lil TikTok vids rot your brains THAT much?

One of the most pleasing moments of my life was when my Red Tour date was the first show of the tour after she cut that ****. :gaycat5:

One of the least pleasing moments of my life was when I spent a whole week playing "You're So Vain" because I knew Carly Simon would be a guest. And she was… the night AFTER my show. :gaycat7:

stay stay stay it's cute

yeah that stay stay stay stay stay (yeah?) (x18) is annoying but the sound of a Train song of that era is not that bad.

Oh The Last Supper, what a glorious return to the music of talented and tasteful people after that last one. For any nearly-skipless album, the song right after the skip must be an 11/10, and oh, this one is! Yes, Lord had no reason to be collaborating with this veritable one hit wonder who can't even properly hit all of his notes (though that's not nearly the worst case of that in this Book nnnn), but oh his voice is such a nice complement to hers. This is probably my fourth or fifth favorite of her m/f duets, but for most other music girls I know it would **** on everything they've ever done, but Lord's output is just that excellent and the rankings fall as they do. That being said, what a gorgeous and divine build-up to the last chorus. What a divine guitar solo! What a DIVINE last two minutes. The first half of this song (especially Gary whateverbooty's first verse), but once one perseveres through, oh the payoff is SO worth it! Some of y'all have way too much to say about this song, and... I don't understand where you're coming from. Are you taking substances when you bash this?

I wish I could fly
I'd pick you up and we'd go back in time
I'd write this in the sky
I miss you like it was the very first night

Take me away, take me away
Take me away, to you, to you
Take me away, take me away
Take me away, to you, to you

This bubblegum pop ANTHEM that would be up there with Call Me Maybe had it been released in 2012. Oh she really put CRACK into these vault tracks.

literally the only flaw on sacRED.. ugh if only she replaced it with The Very First Night if she wanted the album to have another bop
:ryan3:

(Nothing New, Better Man, Babe, Forever Winter, IBYTAM all deserve to be on the album aswell but i kinda get why those were left off atleast)

The way it would even be rejected from the royalty free YouTube catalogue

:ryan3:

Not even a teenage girl making her first video about a clothing haul would use it. The artist who made it would have to pay YouTube to put it there, and after a few months it would still get totally rejected

depends if the lenght makes sense or not. Enchanted is perfect in 6 minutes, and dear john too. Every second of them is not wasted and the songs always find the way to surprise you. Last kiss could have been shorter and it's too long in a monotonous way. Not this makes that not a good song but feels too long.

etc.. etc...
