Dear Reader Posted April 12 Posted April 12 The song that always breaks me is I Almost Do And I confess, babe In my dreams, you're touching my face And asking me if I want to try again with you And I almost do
Tusk Posted April 12 Posted April 12 As a whole, Red doesn't do it for me like her other albums. It needs trimmed to be a more emotional experience. There are so moments that just don't fit. Her best ballads though, for sure! I love them all. 1
Klein Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Ok I am done playing around with IKYWT. Let's get into the collapse of all collapse. The track 5 of all track 5. The crown jewel of her discography. Pretty much like Dear John yesterday, I truly don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. "So casually cruel in the name of being honest" is probably my favorite line of her discography because it is waaaaaay too relatable. 1
Klein Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I'm so glad she was smart enough to realize the excellence of All Too Well and gave us the Grammy performance. Also, who else still gives so much emotions for a rehearsal?
LaFlaca Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I will just be back from a concert when the album drops and I don't know if I will be too tired to listen that night so excited about the longer songs
Klein Posted April 12 Posted April 12 At first sight you'd think the transition from All Too Well and 22 is about as jarring as Enchanted -> Better Than Revenge, but they work perfectly together as the true faces of the album. All Too Well basically tells you: this is why I had to do this album, while 22 tells you: this is why the album is as chaotic as it is. We're happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time It's miserable and magical, oh, yeah A statement!
Klein Posted April 12 Posted April 12 And I for one don't think 22 has aged one bit. Youthful classic! 1
Brooklyn Baby Posted April 12 Posted April 12 The way this was already an amazing song and TV made it 10000x better. She always prefaces this as one of her favourite songs she's made before performing it acoustically "I'm just gonna play one of my favourite songs. I love this one. I'm so proud of this one." And the beautiful Red Tour performance 2
mael Posted April 12 Posted April 12 The way we already know PTSD's opener will be a dud with that feature.... so State Of Grace remains as Her best opener...

The ATW mini-era was a life highlight. The screaming crying throwing up meltdowns when she posted that teaser about performing it. Her serving two of my all time favorite looks that night. I remember seething about her silly headbanging overshadowing the performance. And the Shammys didn't help matters considering they had John Legend perform All Of Me immediately before Taylor went on. 2
Dear Reader Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Distance, timing Breakdown, fighting Silence The train runs off its tracks Kiss me, try to fix it Could you just try to listen? Hang up, give up And for the life of us we can't get back One day you'll be appreciated for the masterpiece that you are. This is one of the saddest songs on her career, alongside songs like Last Kiss. 4
Dear Reader Posted April 12 Posted April 12 and time is taking it's sweet time erasing you ans you've got your demons and darling they all look like me

Klein Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I Almost Do is a song I go back and forth with a lot. Sometimes I skip, sometimes I bowl. There's really no middle ground. I see it as a prequel to Sad Beautiful Tragic. Yes, call me delulu. But being associated to my all time favorite Taylor song in my mind might be the reason why I have such a complicated relationship with IAD. It either sets me up perfectly for later or just feels sooooo weak depending on my mood.
AnitaFalafel Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Ugh I can't handle it anymore I need to hear just a HINT of the sound on PTSD I am going insane LORD help me
Klein Posted April 12 Posted April 12 We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together... the smash that you are (in OG because the TV is buried deep), the anthem that you are (in OG because the TV is buried deep), the bop that you are (in OG because the TV is buried deep). Did I tell you that the OG is better? And also that the TV is really bad? Ugh, so he calls me up and he's like, "I still love you" And I'm like, "I just, I mean, this is exhausting, you know? Like, we are never getting back together, like, ever" 1
mael Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) Treacherous might still be Her number 2 after Enchanted? The way She changed the lyric from "this slope is treacherous" to "this hope is treacherous" and then crescendos into the second bridge with the I, I, Is like She's about to peak during coitus followed by the oh oh ohs in the background that syncs up with the percussion..... oh what a MOMENT. And to top it all off TreacherousTV made the guitar riff towards the end even more prominent... Oh Dan Wilson the father that you are.... let me serve you Edited April 12 by mael
Klein Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Now WANEGBT into SSS is the most jarring transition. "We are never getting back together" into "oh my god please don't leave me nooooo" is truly something. I don't have much to say about Stay Stay Stay. It's just a bad song that sounds like a Christmas jingle for kidz bop.
mael Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) Forever going with the flow but you're friction.... iygiygiydyd Edited April 12 by mael
Brooklyn Baby Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I'm surprised she's never worked with Dan Wilson again after making one of her best songs. Except for rerecording Treacherous ofc
idkwiam Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I am very surprised that I can fix him is the shortest. I expected it to be one of the longest.
Klein Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Here we go for my favorite 1 -> 2 -> 3 punch in her entire career (State Of Grace -> Red -> Treacherous and coney island -> ivy -> cowboy like me are not far behind). The Last Time is for me the most perplexing underrated gem of her discography. I just don't get why everyone isn't obsessed with it, like at all. Especially since y'all are constantly praising exile which, despite being excellent, is just a copy of the original masterpiece. The TV improved this song SOOOO much. Their voices are amazing together, I love the harmonies. The production building through the song, to reach this climax at the end. Oh wow talent talent talent. Production, melodies, lyrics and even feature (which is not an easy task in Taylor's discography) are all top notch. So yeah, I truly don't get the indifference for this song. And there's another song on Red that is suffering the same fate of unjustified/incomprehensible indifference/hate but I'll talk about it in due time.
Fama Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I can't believe we're getting TTPD next week. Time flies when you're having fun.
