The problem with loser wasn't that it's a love album, it was the aesthetics / sound. The campy pop she was going for was a miss with the GP. If she made a love album with a more European dance sound ala Robyn or disco sound ala dua or even a hyperpop influenced pop album ala Charli she would smash

Lover could've been her best pop album if she had chosen a different aesthetic for it and kept those bubblegum pop songs in the vault.

The issue with the aesthetic is that it's too cotton candy fairytopia and lacks depth. She should've gone with a ethereal aesthetic similar to camila's romance but obviously with a dash of pink, gold, and glitter. The soft ethereal greek mythology aesthetic would've fit songs like the archer, cornelia street, cruel summer, daylight, afterglow, lover, ithk, ma&thp perfectly. And I also think that cherubs were the perfect theme for the album.

I think she'll go hyperpop influenced pop. Something more European sounding. An album starting with her being sad and ending with her being in love. A concept.

And yeah the love story with Travis is boring as hell. The only think interesting you can say it's not loveeeer is reflecting on relationships under fame blah blah blah and already done.
