Incredibly unpopular opinion, but I have never gotten the hype over Long Live :deadbanana2: It's cute enough, but I don't really find the idea of a song for fans particularly moving to begin with.

I find the Speak Now vault incredibly underwhelming apart from Timeless :chick3:

Were you a fan at the time?

I was like 13 or 14 when Speak Now came out and I'd seen her overcome a lot of the criticisms and obstacles of being a young woman in country music. The speech she gave when she won the Horizon Award at the CMA's(or CMTs? Sjfjsjd), then the Álbum of the Year Grammy for Fearless, all felt like her ascending a mountain. Long Live was the spiritual anthem that accompanied her reaching that peak, alongside its legendary 1M debut first week it was truly just a lightning in a bottle moment. The song is emotionally tied to the experience of being a fan of hers forever in my eyes

The stolen versions no longer exist, so why rank them? :eli:

I absolutely cannot wait to see Debut TV's cover; as one of the few Swifties who actually doesn't put Debut last in every ranking, it hurts my heart that the album covers ranking has always been the one thing it does lose in.

You can only find this kind of behaviour on this large of a scale and obsession with Taylor's discography tbh

Pre-release meltdowns are what make album threads iconic so yes :clack:

Other fanbases rank things too, but it is true we have made it our Thing™️. At this point I really feel like it's a byproduct of being a Swiftie; we can probably find a way to blame this on Taylor.

Just a reminder of the tea we learned about the album yesterday:

Spoiler

Spoiler
Spoiler

The lead single is The Alchemy. But I Can Fix Him, No Really I Can is going to get the biggest playlist push first week.

There is a literal geriatric choir on Down Bad.

Fortnight is the rock "I forgot that you existed.”

Florida!!! features very little Taylor and mostly Florence.

loml has vocals that shatter wine glasses.

Clara Bow has lyrics that cut grass.

The first half of the album is reputation electroclash synthpop produced by Jack.

The second half is Joel Little coproducing with the Dessners and Louis Bell, very reminiscent of "Only the Young" and "The Man.”

Many verses adjacent to "karma is a cat,” but album is not all bad lyrics.

Andrea had to leave the room during the title track.

i've always loved Long Live as a Peak Now stan but i think it solidified itself as a top 10 Taylor song for me when i saw it at the Eras Tour

as someone who fully got into her around the Peak Now era, it just brought back a wave of memories of being a stan over the past 15 years

rankings are a thing here cause taylor discography is very diverse. You can have people fighting about Fearless or Reputation cause it's not only a fight about the different sound (taylor discography is not that diverse in terms of song structures, melodies etc...her success is being able to move and switch between things but always having a recognizable mark) but it's a fight of opinions about that is honest, that is manifactured, that's true her, not this is the true her...her fanbase is so diverse between women, kids, gays, songwriters fans etc... most of the pop girls sits only with one kind of audience, it's not like if a pop album is euro dance and the next album is edm dance really changes the prospective.

Honestly in my opinion visuals have never been her strong suit. Judging by her personal style,

the random pictures she chooses for her album covers despite many pictures from the photoshoot clearly being better,

and her bland self-directed music videos, I think it's fair to say she doesn't have much of an eye for aesthetics. Most of the most iconic visuals of her career like the Love Story video were directed by other people and I really wish she would relinquish some of that creative control. I think if she worked with an actual creative director for her albums and videos they would be much more striking and memorable.

It's happening :jonny5:

The universe is on my side because the class I had on that Friday was cancelled, so I've decided to take the car and drive to a nearby forest of red oaks and listen to the album while walking around, I'm stupidly excited
