Cruel Summer Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Lemme just ignore those alleged preorders completely bc ~1.3 million would be a perfectly respectable opening first week in total and I don't wanna get too cocky

How much did 1989 tv sell at target first week? Girl bffr I doubt we have even 800k preorders. Haven't you noticed there's NO hype for this album Spoiler Me lowering the bar so I can be gagged when she doubles those numbers but I still dont think it's going to surpass Midnights' streams or 1989 TV sales

scottstreet Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Soo… Taylor is predicted to have ZERO albums at the top 10 of Billboard 200 this week. We need TTPD to come faster because I'm starting to get 2019 flashbacks.

So while I'm not even willing to get my hopes up for 2m let alone more, I will be buying and praying and coercing friends and family to buy and putting in the work! Like honestly, if the stars aligned just right (and if she had her signature tactics like signed copies ready for a surprise launch on the week of release) I see what you mean by having a path honestly, like it's totally possible the Eras tour impact will be way bigger than we might normally expect and lowkey the 1989 TV numbers kinda suggest just that

If she ever wants to try for this record (and to be clear, I think she does), then this is the best time to go for it. Spoiler I'm actually pretty sure that pre-sales are sitting closer to, if not above, 1.5M right now, and I'm also pretty positive that a 500k SEA week is on lock (I'd like for her to clear Drake's 562k SEA week, but that's a secondary objective here), so I think we've got 1-1.5M to drive in sales between now and the 19th and again during release week, and I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility here. She'll need to pump out a few hundred thousand signed CDs and a few hundred thousand more signed vinyl copies (all she needs to do is sign like 5000 and then use autopen for the rest nnn my morals are out the window when it comes to this sales record), plus say 150k from iTunes, 100k digital on her site, 150k from Target, and 100k from other retailers. If there's a big single push with remixes (which I wouldn't mind to drive TEA), she can run some campaign where proof of purchase from iTunes enters you into a ticket lottery for the next round of US Eras shows nnn. There are ways to make this happen, and I just have to trust that she wants it as badly as I do.
PoisonedIvy Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) My friend who works for Republic just shared a lot of tea. Spoiler The lead single is The Alchemy. But I Can Fix Him, No Really I Can is going to get the biggest playlist push first week. There is a literal geriatric choir on Down Bad. Fortnight is the rock "I forgot that you existed.” Florida!!! features very little Taylor and mostly Florence. loml has vocals that shatter wine glasses. Clara Bow has lyrics that cut grass. The first half of the album is reputation electroclash synthpop produced by Jack. The second half is Joel Little coproducing with the Dessners and Louis Bell, very reminiscent of "Only the Young" and "The Man.” Many verses adjacent to "karma is a cat,” but album is not all bad lyrics.
