Taylor Swift - 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT'

She could be on her way to do a legendary run of albums after folkmore but MID ruined that. Now this :gaycat6:

This regression makes no sense. Girl

I know I've just spent the whole night trashing pop Taylor but let me switch sides like a record changer for a moment: Midnights is underrated. Yall would praise most of those songs to high heaven if Max's name was on them instead. The worst songs on the album aren't even like offensively bad. Just… mid.

Spoiler

Seems like reputation is underrated these days too. :gaycat5:

It's kinda crazy how many little details in Swiftism line up so well

After today's eclipse and lyric reveal, I saw people posting that there was a solar eclipse on April 19 (Poets release date) in 1958 (the year mentioned in "Timeless”). The universe definitely conspires on her behalf.

We just like to get bad news always. Who asked for Reputation? Who needed that? And why?
And also, as someone who love Post, How it's similar to his weakest song?

That's why I hate insiders and those spoilers, from being hyped to the maximum to being disappointed on the highest level.

actually nevermind

i'm 78% sure all the insiders of this era were hired trolls by taylor nation to deceive us... tell them about kern... tell them it's rep 2.0... tell them it sounds like x post malone song

just so when we hit play on fortnight and we hear guitars and 70s synths... yeah

These is from the songs I heard:

Fortnight: pop, reminds me of the song wrapped around your finger by post.

TTPD: soft rock, reminds me of those soft rock songs in the 2000s if that makes sense? Definitely similar to all too well.

Florida: yes she has verse, alt pop vibes. Didn't stand out to me tbh, it was good tho. She is a producer on the album, but you guys knew that already!

ICDIWABH: alt-pop sound, kinda reminds me of holy ground, but also could be a song on evermore.

WAOLOM: a sad ballad, I would say it reminded me of Corlina street. It's a song that would be in her depression playlist because she is sad her partner fell outta love with her.

Aaron and Jack are main producers, also the producer that Post works with it is on it. I might be forgetting a producer but those are ones I picked up on.

everyone and their mothers were swearing taylor broke up with joe and not the other way around.

Oh but I love having low expectations. When Midnights leaked and everyone was dragging it everywhere, I drafted multiple posts about how excited I was that she finally released another bad album so debut wouldn't have to be in my bottom 2 anymore… then I listened to the album and enjoyed it start to finish. :deadbanana2:

Same here… but Reputation noises?! On a Poets album? That's too much for me, if true.

It's produced by dessner and antonoff. It's not Red and it's not rep. Max Martin for the Better and the worst he's the only One can make that kinda of music.

My fear now as I said several times is could be like just a "pop folklore", which means like a semplicistic or reductive folklore. Cause the insider words really suggest this if you read between the lines.

Taylor doesn't do the same thing twice. So we're not getting a midnights at least and that's already a massive WIN no matter what. National Championship Sport GIF by NCAA March Madness

And ...this is how

You are losing me.......

Why can't Taylor just reinvent herself for once? Why is doing pop again that too the same we have been hearing for years.

This album will have same fait as Midnights. I hate this already. I can't believe those tracklist description. This is worse than hearing Midnights.

Again sorry guys! I've been looking at your thread and wanted to pop in! Sorry to cause confusion and sadness, but I'm excited for the rest of the album and hope you guys do as well! I'll be back closer to album!

do you think fortnight is the lead single and how will it perform in billboard hot 100?

This was clearly a one - off thing and they were marketed as sister albums. Midnights and TTPD are NOT.

Not again the essays "everything is wrong with pop music". Thank you Reputation :clap3:

Seriously is fun how the tracks descriptions are everything but Reputation (quoted songs are holy ground, all too well and Evermore) but this thread Is now all about Reputation. The trauma of that album

Also Fortnight as lead is horrible

HORRIBLE

Her collabs are never massive hit and not liked much by her audience. Even Exile got overshadowed in the end.

This is horrible marketing decision.

A first song as lead single.

She literally killed streaming numbers of the album.

I am devastated by all these news.

Y'all aren't going to like hearing this, but Midnights is a great pop album and the hate is gets on ATRL is honestly weird. There were ultimately 23 songs from the era (I'm counting both versions of SOTB as one because the song itself never changed), and I only actively dislike/skip 3 or sometimes 4 of them.

The Midnights hate is tired at this point. It's a great record.
