The insider basically is saying this is midnights (so She continues with pop influenced by alt and alternative rock) but the sound is not essentialist like that but big choruses. Also i assume dessner tracks are more rock and less acoustics than 3.AM.

Kern is also a character in a sci-fi novel about super-intelligent spiders on a terraformed alien world, Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky! Dr. Avrana Kern - she is kind of a killer, and crossing her is probably a bad idea.

 

If anyone likes sci-fi novels it's actually very, very good, it has two very good sequels, it made me literally cry about fictional alien spiders, and finding out Taylor reads stuff like that would gag me a little

Then if for you "songs are alt pop and 70s rock influenced" fits with Red pop songs and rep sound good for you.

Frankly, sci-fi has never been my preferred book genre, but I've literally never known you to have bad taste in anything ever, so let me put it on my reading list because that premise is intriguing. I'll get back to you in ~two months about it nnnnn

Real talk though. I don't think we'll ever get a proper country album out of her again. It'll be "acoustic pop" or "indie folk" or whatever. It has not escaped my notice that she's used the rerecordings to make all of her "country" albums less country than they were: "Don't You" getting 1989'd, Red TV straight up labelled pop, leaning into the pop-punk aspect of Speak Now. Add in that she snubbed debut's classics from the Eras Tour, kept the Fearless set as brief as possible, and only did pop songs from Speak Now and Red… Outlook is not promising.

I just have to pray that the mainstream revival of country and its increased crossover rate is sending her subliminal signals to record another full country record (and like a full country record, so basically the most hee-haw parts of LPs 1-4 without any of the country pop, country rock, or pop fluff). Am I a ******* clown for wanting that? Yeah, but that's never stopped me before 

 

I live in perpetual fear that one Thursday I'll wake up to a new instagram grid from her ass about a surprise folk release that midnight

The insider (the same insider from Reddit) has a Twitter account, and she tweeted that the songs she's heard so far sound like songs from Rep and Red. She's also tweeted that she hasn't listened to the full album yet.

Honestly, I only read it because so many people online recommended it, and I expected it to suck a bit or be massively overhyped. But then it pulled me in completely and I was shocked how much I loved it - and how I chewed through it and both sequels all in the span of a week and a half while I was vacationing in the mountains of Colorado right as Taylor announced 1989 TV. To see the word "Kern" in Taylor threads, even if it ends up being just about the river or not actually being anything at all, lowkey shook me to my core a bit. The world works in mysterious ways, but most of them in my life tie to Taylor Swift, and it's genuinely a little strange sometimes

djflks girl I was in the mountains of Colorado on a hiking trip with my ex bf (in a cabin outside Durango if you were curious lol) when folklore was announced and released, it's such a magical place to me. I think we're all pretty sure that Teneo just pulled the word "Kern" out of his ass (probably a keyboard smash auto-correct nnn), but I know I need to read this book to give it a bit more meaning for the inevitable The Tortured Poets Department 2: The Poets Are Still Tortured release at some point in Q4 featuring Tonight We Cross KKK 

 

It's kinda crazy how many little details in Swiftism line up so well (both with each other, and with my own life) that it just... can't be a coincidence
