I see we've reached THAT stage of the album rollout

A notice to everyone who wasn't here during secret sessions era (and a reminder to those that were) that you cannot rely on any individual's taste or musical references to determine how you will receive an album - or even what it sounds like

true Mr s promised a melodrama with midnights and look at what we got :suburban:

Title track is really good to me…. lemme do number 2 acc just in case bc haven't heard the full album!

queen, do you think they're any radio-friendly tracks based on what you have heard?

@Sweetenertea why did you only have the chance to hear just 6 songs and not the full album? Do you work somewhere important like a label or something?

I know someone who works at republic lol

"Gorgeous lyrics cut like glass"

Like some of y’all are putting far too much on the good sister @Sweetenertea’s shoulders, especially if “the song has a big chorus” is enough to make you break down and spiral for two weeks straight

Wait the Post song that was mentioned actually is kinda great and gives just a few hints of… dare I say… The 1975

And if I said that Midnights and Melo aren't... that dissimilar sonically, and that the greatest distinction can be made in consideration of the fan reaction to each :suburban:

They exist in the same sonic universe, moreso than any other Taylor album :suburban:

Fortnight, which will be the lead single off the album. Idk when the mv comes out unfortunately, knowing Taylor it could be with the album, but I am not sure

what happened????????

Expecting a Taylor Swift pop album to be anything but a mixed bag of quality is a fool's game. This is why we need to retire the pop star and resurrect the country legend!

Yeehawlor is still trapped in there somewhere, desperately wishing to make an album full of cowboy like mes and tolerate its. FREE HER!

I love that you're so positive :suburban:

I, in contrast, am starting to bury myself in the trench I'm currently inhabiting, as I think it would make a nice spot for a grave and I'm not sure if I'll make it through the night :suburban:

I just could never melt down about a Taylor record, I love everything this woman does so much it's more likely I'd just die than not click with an album

You know... if the "reputation" in question is GrammyWin Car... I'll go back and hide all my meltdown posts

Oh see I'll also absolutely get on board within 3 seconds of the first song (there were months after the release of both Reputation and Lover where I was able to convince myself they were the greatest thing she's ever done :suburban:), but I'm in a bit of a fragile mental state now, and I'm never one to pass up an opportunity to have a public breakdown

Spoiler

:suburban:

and I do like the obsessive badge of honor and derangement indication (for others) that comes with being the top poster in a thread line this, so I may have been trying to widen my gap with the bestie Dear Jesus

idk to me they're totally different midnights is kinda bedroom pop and has a lofi vibe to it meanwhile melodrama is electro pop. reputation is closer to melo than midnights

You're doing the lord's work in my opinion if you've genuinely heard some of it, now if you're okay with it I would maybe ask you to please tell me if anything you heard maybe sounded like either It's Not Living or I'm In Love With You by The 1975
