We will never know when they actually broke up.  They had to release something since the hounding of him not going to any Eras shows was getting bigger.

I'd say they ended it late 2022.

He was at her Grammys party in 2023

Which makes his whole staged distressed papwalk and his team trying to smear her via Daily M@ail of all hellholes, right after it was officially announced, even nastier in retrospect. They really wanted to push a "poor baby didn't see this coming at all!".

 :khalyan2:

That October 2022 NYC "outing" was such a PR thing.

So "two people that have broken up but are in the gray area" coded.  They never walked the streets of NYC like that before. Very odd.

I went to my ex's things for 6 months after we broke up to keep up appearances.  We dated for 8 years.  It was over but not really over yet.

There is a gray area after a long relationship.

2021-2022, they were very on and off and had some serious issues. She wrote You're Losing Me in Dec 2021, I'm still shocked by this revelation. She basically admits I don't love you anymore and you're kinda pathetic in it. :deadbanana2:

April 19th will fill in the gaps probably.

Oh god this album is gonna be SO sad, she has so much to say and get it off her chest. It's already a top 3 staple in her discography and it's not even yet. :deadbanana2:

Oh I just know this is going to have songs that hurt ten times more than even the certified heartbreak GOAT, Last Kiss, and I'm so not ready :jonny2:

So I'll go

Sit on the floor wearing your clothes

All that I know is I don't know

How to be something you miss

The final instance of that verse, which comes in so gently after that instant of near silence, is like the most tear-jerking part of her discography for me (besides Ronan, which is different). I wonder which song might manage to beat that.

The fact that Last Kiss was also written about a Joe. I'm sure Fearless/Speak Now Taylor is rolling in her grave ''girl, you should've known better!" :dies:

Fun fact, Last Kiss was also the surprise songs at Eras, the night Travis attended and tried but failed to give her his number on a friendship bracelet. The universe writing this melodrama I swear.

I know you meant melodrama as in the noun- but what if this is her Melodrama as in the Lorde album... a lot of people said Midnights was trying to be Melodrama but failed- but I feel TTPD may be Melodrama x Folklore in the best way

This is probs setting her up bc Melodrama is the best album ever written- but let me delulu for a bit!

What are we gonna do when it's 3 nights away? Our sanity is going to be on its last leg :gaycat6:

The breakup was clearly between between the Las Vegas and Arlington shows. In Arlington she switched out invisible string and the 1 and her mood was noticebly down from vegas. The surprise songs choices at Arlington were  also pretty pointed.

Joe was at her Grammys after party in Feb 2023.  Also I don't think she would have released All the Girls You Loved Before right before the tour started if they were broken up.

But they likely had relationship difficulties for months before the final breakup.

I'm already losing it. This is evidenced by me returning to my Swiftie roots and actually streaming Speak Now, instead of forgetting it exists! I'm going to have to take like, multiple days off work right before the album drops just so I can get through those days with my mind intact.

I'm doing the opposite and trying to bury myself in work and social outings so I have as little free time as possible, I need the days to pass by at an alarming rate :gaycat6:

I'm actually not the biggest fan of Melodrama (or Lorde's writing style in general tbh) but sure! I also think Midnights did exactly what she intended to do with it, have a smash diaristic Pop album again but burry the lead, mistify the meaning, throw everyone off what it really is about until you're sure there's no fixing this decaying relationship you're trying to talk about.

Speaking of Preach Now, one of the things I'm most looking forward to on TTPD are those moments where everything just sort of stops around you and the song becomes its own little universe for a minute. The bridge of Never Grow Up, for example - it's a cute, good song already, and I'm a sucker for the simple instrumentation. But when that bridge hits, especially in the rerecording, it's like time literally stops dead in its tracks. :jonny3:

I love Never Grow Up so much… I found out a couple weeks ago that my sister is pregnant and I immediately thought of making her a Never Grow Up friendship bracelet as she's coming with me to The Eras Tour while being pregnant. I'll need to teach the ways of the Swift to my nephew.

Looking forward to all the month mentions like on Speak Now (Back to December, that September night first time you ever saw me cry) etc.

As antsy as I am for this album to come out now, I think we're going to look back on this moment fondly someday. It's just now hitting me what a unique moment this is for any fanbase. This will be our sixth brand new studio album, and tenth including rerecordings, in about six and a half years. She's experiencing literally unprecedented success, serving a pace of output not seen in major mainstream artists since the 60's, and we're getting fed almost constantly.

TTPD might get lost in the middle of it all, honestly, a little like Evermore in the wake of Folklore, but I'm sure it'll be an incredibly important part of the tapestry of her career once we look back.

I also just found out that June 19th, 2026 - the 20th anniversary of her very first single - is a Friday. I feel like that's the day she's building toward for the Eras chapter of her career, so it's nice that we still have time left. This new album, two more rerecordings, and who knows what else on the way there.

why are you nervous for TTPD premiere?

Death By A Thousand Cuts re-contextualized is painful.

"My time, my wine, my spirit, my trust

trying to find a part of me you didn't take up"

He took advantage of her trust, he took away her spirit, he wasted her time, and worst of all HE DRANK HER WINE

I think they likely broke up or took breaks multiple times and tried to make it work in between. If she wrote "You're Losing Me" in late 2021 like Jack claims, then the relationship had tons of ups and downs which tracks due to her music.

Why would someone be suspicious about that man not going to the first Eras tour dates. We saw him like 3 times in 6 years and most of the times he didn't even have a job.

Lol same, I already planned the last two days to be busy as possible and stay away from the usual leak meltdowns and spoilers in order to keep my sanity in check, also to exhaust and force myself to sleep well the night before since releases are in the early morning in my timezone…

100% same. It was almost as big an improvement as The Way I Loved You for me, and now it's on all my favorite Taylor playlists :jonny2:
