The only 1989 TV rerecorded songs I can manage listening to are Clean, This Love, and Wildest Dreams

:suburban:

And I hate two of the vaults because they sound like MID rehashes/rejects

  Hide contents

Also since we're on the subject of rerecordings... Kinda perched for the meltdowns here from rep stans when they finally hear the Christopher Rowe versions of Ready for It?, IDSB, and Don't Blame Me

:suburban:

Tbh from the start, I was only perched for vault tracks for her pop albums' re-recordings because I knew the rest wouldn't live up to the OGs.

Spoiler

I don't think I will even bother playing Reputation (Christopher Rowe Version). Just give us the vault EP

I don't keep it safe. Definitely will outstream midnights first day but your numbers are still too high.

While no One noticed Skip now karaoke version 1989 was very big and released only 6 months ago. Still going to beat midnights but It's not 100% correct imo to say this is the first album after midnights, the release of 1989 and Skip now in part could damage a little bit.

i mean, you are indeed playing it safe cus you clearly think  ttpd would only slightly outdo midnights, even though there is no doubt shes far bigger than she was in 2022. i even saw this tweet which showed the day of midnights dropping, she had 57M monthly listeners on spotify; now she has 101M which is almost a two-fold. there is no wway she would only slightly ouotdo midnights numbers.  the fact that 1989tv outsold midnights without signed versions proves that.

and with ttpd being a brand new album, not a re-recording and have that exclusive track thingy, there is no way she doesnt clear 2m first week.

trust me, you guyusu are way too conservative.  as for the "karoke version of 1989" potentially damaging her a little, ok maybe it'll do a bit of damage, but its a re-recording and i think most people knows it aint gonna be top notch at this point. i'll say this though, it is still top ten on the bb200 and still quite high on many country's charts too. it should barely matter.

It is when 1939 karaoke version sold 1.7M with just 5 original songs and the streams collapsing (in comparison to midnights) after the day 2.

we only act they are good in the first 3 days to convince not stans to stream them, then the delusion ends.

SIO is NAWT better than the original with that awful clicking noise throughout half the song. I cannot believe no one picked up on it before release and pressing.

sure the productions on the tvs were way worse, but her singing voicegot significantly better. if you listen through high quality headphones youd notice that. in fact youd find her younger voice to be quite a bit worse than it is now.

wildest dreams TV is the perfect example of this. the original prodution by max martin sounded like a high budget blockbuster movie, where as the tv productions sounded like a chinese bootleg version of the film, but you can notice her voice to be significantly clearer.

I still haven't listened to 1989 TV in full, only the vaults and Style/Opus of the Woods/Blank Space/I Know Places. I just have zero interest in doing it

:suburban:

And they said our streams are fan-driven.

TTPD is gonna completely destroy every previous album debut of hers. How can anyone not be convinced of this.

I want one of the songs to be a stripped classic ballad like The Only Exception.

i am going through the 5 stages of grief.

today is DENIAL, so I am DENYING that Mr Jacksoon Antonooff is on this record, and that it is synthpop. Those two statements are false. I do not believe :ryan3:

We'll be able to say "TTPD next week" starting TOMORROW. Full body chills are creeping up on me. :jonny5:

Actually, the idea that this album is conceptually the opposite of Lover kind of makes me feel like it just can't sound like Lover sonically. That might be the most compelling pseudo-evidence yet for this album being more like Red, Folklore, Evermore, etc. - or, just maybe, even other artists' records like Rumours - than like Midnights, Lover, etc. Plus since Midnights was already basically a stealth breakup album, doing another synth pop album about the same end of the same relationship just wouldn't fit with her tendency to reinvent herself.

God I feel like I'm going insane, is it 13 days from now yet

I feel like TTPD is connected with rep (as her first b&w love album about Joe)

But aesthetically, lyrically and sonically it gives me strong Red+folklore vibe. Like if folklore had more sound diversity and upbeat songs.

What? It's Sunday, which means this is the last -full- week in which TTPD will not be released :deadbanana4:

Kind of insane how all the songs Joe had a songwriting credit on are featured in the playlists… wonder if her giving him credits on these songs was her being shady

Posted

It's also kind of crazy that she probably knew they were going to breakup since February 2021 of this is when she started writing it… the bejeweled video having the portrait of her as a single old cat lady with ELEVEN cats makes so much sense now

this might sound derivative but i really think TTPD will be a mix of AUSTIN (Louis Bell synthpop with heavier guitar/rock sounds), Dance Fever (Jack indie/alternative rock) and the Dessners (The National / Midnights 3am sound)

This is actually the perfect and most likely sonic blend imo

I'm really thinking it will be similar to Florence's HBHBHB.

I'd literally collapse. But there's just no way. Taylor could never pull off a Ship to Wreck, Delilah, or Mother :rip:

BUT she could do a Various Storms & Saints (if she really tried) and I'd die for that.

I feel like she could also pull off a St. Jude and I'm trying so hard to not think that and set myself up for disappointment but the artistè that would be :jonny5:

i don't get the criticism about antonoff "syntpop" ....what max martin makes if not syntpop too? 1989 martin tracks are a celebration of the syntpop 80s sound.

Why the criticism is about him only? I want music made by real instruments again, I agree with that, so no Martin too
