The playlists are really interesting to link the bonus track to the various stages of grief.

"I love you, it's ruining my life" is the lyrics on the first playlist about denial. The bonus track on that variant is The Manuscript. I couldn't really tell what this song would be about, but if it's associated with denial, then maybe it's going to be about how she created a story, a fantasy in her head that everything was alright in their relationship.

"You don't get to tell me about sad" is anger, and the song is The Bolter. Pretty easy to imagine this one being tied to anger. I'm sure she wasn't the most pleased that he was trying at all cost to avoid any scrutiny on their relationship, even just walking out of a building and into a car.

"Am I allowed to cry?" is bargaining, the song is The Albatross. Back to Baudelaire's poem 'L'albatros', it is a poem about the place of the artist (in his case the poet) in society and how it is viewed. Maybe she'll explore the idea of how she navigated her fame to accomodate Joe's wishes.

"Old habits die screaming" is depression and associated to The Black Dog. It's been already discussed at length that the imagery of the black dog is used to talk about depression.

Really getting excited for the album. I'm trying to contain it considering we're still a whole fortnight.mp3 away from the release, but damn, I'm struggling. :jonny5:

I love this post so much I want it to be true so bad. However, if she came up with the stages of grief concept after she saw the fan theories I'm afraid it won't be exactly that.

Still, I have a feeling The Black Dog will be one of her most depressing songs ever.

This is me trying 2.0 with more revelatory diaristic lyrics and maybe sonically similar to hoax or SBT would instantly place in her top 10 of all time. :jonny5:

The earthquake was a precursor to Lover being on the Denial playlist.

omg the thought of that being a reality, I don't think I'd survive :jonny5:

I can't believe I'll listen to the first 16 tracks and then we'll probably have to wait half a day to get the 4 bonus tracks. It's the 3am situation all over again but this time we know we're getting them :jonny5:

I would NEVER stream Radical Optimism if you were to leak the album, unless it's in full and super HQ.

Also, adding to your post and theory (and this might be kind of obvious), I Can Do It With a Broken Heart might touch on the acceptance subject. It's track 13 and the track name sounds like that subject

Now when does the Sirius station start today

It's crazy how this is shaping up to be her most acclaimed album ever and an undeniable masterpiece (it sucks that it won't get AOTY, but that's another story). All I'm hoping for this era are several music videos (by several I mean around 3 lol) and it would be amazing if we got a long pond special. I'm going to The Eras Tour in July and I'm not expecting any changes in the setlist. I'm fine with that but LPSS would do wonders.

You'd think so but the second this leaks (unless, again, if it's in full and in HQ) I'll log out of this thread. I've ruined the slap in the face that Midnights could have been by listening to the LQ leak, and same for 1989 TV. I'm NOT doing it again.

Maybe for you, but I absolutely love Midnights and it's imo the very best of her 4 main pop albums (and I'm tempted to add "by far").

Maroon, Anti-Hero, YOYOK, Midnight Rain, Bejeweled, Karma, Mastermind, TGW, High Infidelity, Glitch, WCS and Dear Reader are all 10(+)/10 songs for me.

And I can tell how much I missed on because listening to the 3AM tracks was truly a blessing.

I'm excited that we have absolutely no clues about this album, I just hope we have great mid-tempos like Death By A Thousand Cuts and Exile.
