I think the general public is starting to feel some Taylor Fatigue, in part because of the wild success of the Eras Tour and her finally becoming a billionaire AND winning another AOTY all in one fell swoop (the private jet stuff didn't help). The economy is in the tank right now too and a lot of people are extra grumpy and out of work so they project their frustration onto her. Between her ~scandal dating Matty and the super public Travis relationship, she's gone beyond 1989 overexposure so it's natural people are losing it when it comes to her especially people who always disliked her or were looking for a reason to. ANYWAY. I'm hoping the first single is a Cruel Summer-level BOP. We deserve a visual era. I want videos. We got like, one for Speak Now TV and it's been crickets otherwise. Nothing for 1989 TV :( 5

19SLAYty9 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I'm so excited to start getting descriptions the week of release 4
Redstreak Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I don't necessarily think we're getting a lead but I do think we'll start getting more targeted promo. A fortnight away and all of that, TN hasn't tweeted since April 1st

Nothing for 1989 TV :( No one cares about any of this stuff. The only thing that's actually happening is some mild fatigue in the US after Eras completely dominated all music and cultural discussion for 12 months. 2

All the pressed football fans say otherwise lol. I'm not saying I agree with any of this but I've heard this from many people + seen it all over the internet. 1 1
PoisonedIvy Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Does anyone remember the interview Taylor did before 1989 where they spilled some of the themes/lyrics of certain songs from the album? I'd love for something like that again

I think there were a few different interviews where she discussed the album, but this one in particular stands out to me because I remember the streets of twitter collapsing into an all out brawl the day that piece of info came out Here 1
1989 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Champagne Problems truly is one of her bests of all time, lyrically speaking. Like, I know it gets love because it's a fan favorite and a Taylor piano ballad, but seriously, it's just line after line of genius songwriting. A masterpiece. 6
Holiest Dreams Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I know everyone seems to have our guesses as to what the lead will be (Down Bad, the most predicted choice - in my case I'm predicting MBOBHFT) But perhaps a more interesting question… which song being the lead would shock you the most? For me, I can't picture any scenario where the title track is the lead, just going off the title alone. Almost anything else could potentially work but, while it's a perfect album name, I can't see a song titled The Tortured Poets Department being played on radio or single-worthy (in a commercial sense). 3

The tracks will be all over the place chronologically and sonically. I know, but it works so well I want to believe that after 11 albums she finally got a tracklist right. Edited April 4 by Klein 2

Almost anything else could potentially work but, while it's a perfect album name, I can't see a song titled The Tortured Poets Department being played on radio or single-worthy (in a commercial sense). I mean there's still a part of me holding out for SL,L being 9 minutes long, so I'd be incredulous to learn that was the lead, even if it's a more reasonable length. Also, she's only ever released 2 track 5s as singles, and while White Horse was an excellent country ballad choice and Delicate literally saved its era, I have doubts that she'll employ that strategy for a lead. In a world where SL,L isn't 9 minutes long (so... this one ), then I'd say I'd be most surprised if the lead was loml (she's not that crazy), TSMWEL (this title strikes me as if it's going to be a deeply introspective and personal ballad), or Clara Bow (I'm assuming this is some meta commentary on fame, and I'm pretty sure her radio people and Tree would revolt if she tried to send a song that's basically The Lucky One 2.0 out to mass consumption given the state of TaylorMania). As for what could be the lead, my pick is FOTS and I've read essays from you about MBOBHFT and they may be onto something nnn, and obviously Down Bad is a popular choice, but I could also see Guilty as Sin? (assuming it's not about Ratty) or Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me? working because the titles are quite gripping. Edited April 4 by wastedpotential 2
Roger21 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 No one cares about the overexposure and all that kind of stuff. GP will be perched on 19th April. Records will be broken. 2

I kinda feel like IF he gets anything it won't be until TS12, but we'll see Idk, I kind of feel like the Joe storyline would be incomplete without the rebound (Matty) and moving on (Travis) parts. 2
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted April 4 Posted April 4 The lead single will be I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can). Miss Alison herself appeared to me in a dream and told me
