Red great ? Choosing only max Martin songs especially for the International markets make them feel like she was the female One direction and damaged her image in these markets for years. And really didn't represent the whole album It's fun how She said She felt She could have win AOTY with Red when the 80% of the voters were probably convinced was an album full of i knew you were trouble. Begin Again was literally the second single and it came out before the album. Red and The Last Time were also singles. 1 7
KatyPrismSpirit Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Midnights definitely did not have great singles lets be real now. Anti-Hero was a great lead-single choice (and the obvious "hit" on the album), however Karma (feat. Ice Spice) and Lavender Haze were poor single choices. Should've gone with Anti-Hero > Maroon > Midnight Rain 1 3 1

Without the pop songs, Red is an AOTY album. The pop songs were way too bubblegum and barebones. I don’t think most Grammy voters actually listen to the entire album either 😂 1

What image did she have in international markets for it to be damaged? Releasing the pop singles, even though they are definitely not my favorites from the album, gave her the opportunity to expand her audience. Outside of that she released Begin Again (a masterpiece), Red (a masterpice), The Last Time (a masterpiece), State Of Grace as promo single (a masterpiece). 1 6

(I actually prefer them over the entirety of Lover and reputation and most of 1989 & Midnights ). 2 1

Well that is your unique opinion because the consensus is that the Red set is the most boring on Eras tour. 1

Should've gone with Anti-Hero > Maroon > Midnight Rain "Maroon" as single? It's basically just words spoken without any catchy melody, it would've bombed as a single and on radio. 1

What image internationally? Also I Knew You Were Trouble is like one of her biggest hits WW.

Actually, the title for the most boring set on The Eras Tour goes to the folklore set. It's literally just her standing in the cabin singing snoozefest songs and then running around the stage for some unknown reason during the August performance. It is such a mess and goes on for way too long.

Even if it would've flopped. Plus Maroon is so well written, I can just imagine a music video listening to that song alone.

Kern Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Releasing Karma as a remix with a feature was a horrible mistake. Lavender Haze also had boring music video

Feanor Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Best Eras sets: 1. Lover 2. reputation 3. evermore 4. 1989 5. Fearless 6. Midnights 7. Acoustic set 8. folklore 9. Speak Now 10. RED

TaylenaStan Posted March 18 Posted March 18 RED pop singles were essential for her breakthrough in europe.. and lets be real even if you dont like WANEGBT/IKYWT/22 they still obviously make the most sense as singles Also isnt WANEGBT still her biggest song in Japan for example The only botched single rollout in her career remains Loser 4
Kern Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I understand why the title is all in caps. Usually departements are written like that on the stamps for example. It's just the aesthetic 1 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted March 18 Posted March 18 1989 remains as the album with the best singles by a landslide. Shake it Off Blank Space Style Bad Blood (Remix) Wildest Dreams Out of the Woods Is It Over Now? like wowza 6
Kern Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) RED singles run was insane. I remember it was impossible to escape 'I knew...' and this whole era just felt so big. Edited March 18 by stupidjock 2

As is, 1989 just has the best by a small margin. Red singles run is also amazing. Edited March 18 by Klein
